I believe the X-Box does NOT have Wifi built in? (sic)Surprisingly, the Xbox 360 doesn't have wireless networking built in. If you don?t fancy using the wired Ethernet method, you can invest in a wireless networking adapter. Microsoft has its own adapter specifically designed for the Xbox 360, but third-party Wifi-certified devices will work just as well.(sic) From the below site. http://72.14.253.104/search?q=cache:d7LlkY7Zo1sJ:www.vnunet.com/personal-computer-world/hardware/2147007/microsoft-xbox-360+xbox+360+wifi+is+built+in%3F&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2 So that may be ya problem?

How to connect xbox360 to internet with laptop

Hello bernelltaylo,

This is a very simple procedure, but pay close attention.

First, here are the requirements to attempt this procedure.
_____________________

- An Ethernet Cable,
- Wireless Connected Laptop
- Bridged Connection Eligibility
_______________________

1. Get an Ethernet cable, they are commonly blue, or yellow.

2. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the back of your Xbox 360 console, and the other end of your Laptop.

3. Log onto your laptop, (assuming you're using Windows), and find the list of your wireless/wired connections.

4. You'll see something like, "Local Area Connection 2", and "Wireless Network Connection 3". Make sure you're already connected to the Wireless Network before continuing to the next step.

5. Highlight both the connections, and right click one of them. Click on, "Add a Bridge".

6. A process will start which will bridge the connections, enabling your laptop to work as a modem for your Xbox 360. This may take as long as anywhere between seconds, to minutes.

7. When it's done, do NOT remove the Ethernet cable, until your desire to disconnect from the internet on your Xbox 360.

Hope this helped, see ya' later. :)

Do u need a wireless adaptor to set up xbox live??

No, a Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter is not required to access, and set up Xbox Live, but you will need an internet connection. If you are close enough to a modem or router, you can buy an Ethernet cord, and plug it in to both the modem/router, and firmly into your Xbox 360 console. You will either need the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter, or the Ethernet cord. Ethernet cords are very cheaper, much cheaper than a Wireless Adapter, but the Wireless Adapters are much or easier to reason with. So choose wisely with money.

Cant connect to XBOX LIVE through wireless adapter it says to trouble shoot connection

Are you running through a wireless router? Most commonly, if this is a recent problem after purchasing wireless adapter, that your wireless router needs to be reset and it's configurations changed to allow for connection to your Xbox. If you can connect to Live with an ethernet cable, then this is most likely your issue.

I have a Cayman 3347w wireless router and I am trying to use one of the wired slots to connect my xbox 360 to the internet. the xbox will not connect. is this router xbox compatable?

Please try the following steps below;

To make a router connection to Xbox LIVE:
  1. Before you connect any cables, turn off your router, modem, PC, and Xbox 360 console. (Unplug your modem from its power source to turn it off.)
  2. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your modem and the other end to the Ethernet input port on the back of your router.
  3. With another Ethernet cable, connect one end to one of the router's Ethernet output ports. Connect the other end to your PC's Ethernet port.
  4. With the third Ethernet cable, connect one end to another of the router's Ethernet output ports. Connect the other end to the Ethernet port on the back of the Xbox 360 console.
  5. Turn on your modem, then your router, then your PC.
  6. Make sure your PC can access the Internet. If not, you may need to configure the router for Internet access. For help configuring the router using your PC, check the instructions that came with the router.
  7. Turn on your Xbox 360 console and sign in with your profile.
  8. If this is the first time you've turned on your Xbox 360 console, see Create Your Gamer Profile to get started with both the Xbox 360 system and Xbox LIVE play.
If you're unable to connect to Xbox LIVE, you can try to diagnose the problem right on your console. Go to My Xbox and open System Settings, then select Network Settings (setup XBOX using Automatic Configuration DHCP), Test Xbox LIVE Connection.

Hope this helps!

Console will not connect to my wireless network

First off, make sure you have a wireless connector on your console. The new Elites come with one. If you don't you'll need to buy one (100 US dollars or so)

If you have one and it's still not connecting, make sure that your security settings on your network router are set to allow your xbox TO connect. I've found that if you have security settings set up that the 360 tends to have troubles connecting to a wireless network. Either open up your settings, or use a direct connect Ethernet cord, which bypasses the wireless security, to connect directly to the router
