This is almost certainly the device that sends electricity to the the plasma in the panel after failing. Bring to your local repair shop and expect to pay 300-400 parts and 100-200 labour.

Most likely what happened is one of the capacitors went bad. When a capacitors goes bad it produces a popping sound. This could be an easy and cheap fix if you find the bad capacitor or capacitors. The bad capacitor will have a bulging top most likely on the power board but could be anywhere.

SOURCE: LG 42 Plasma has a black Fuzzy Screen when 1st turned on

Doesn't sound like a fuse-related symptom but rather the sign of a failing capacitor in the high voltage supply; when weakening, their characteristics can improve slightly with warmth but it is likely going to get worse. I don't know your set so can't say if the HV supply is integrated with the main supply or not.

Your model number is incomplete so you will need to add some characters to get the right part.
This company does offer some warranty on their items which are primarily gathered from disassembled sets but check with them:
Jimmy's Parts
If you replace the failing board, don't throw the other away, it is a repairable item if you find the right technician.

LG 42PG20 42" Plasma.

i have seen on some of those models bad power supplies. if you take the back off the tv you wil see a board in the top center that is the power supply board. you may have about 8-9 vented capacitors towards the left hand side of the board. they will look like they are exploding on the top some may even have black residue on the top that is the leaking electrolytic fluid. they will proabaly be 3300micro farad at 16volt high temp 105degree capacitors.

I have a lg plasma model ru-42-px-11, it flickers for about 1/2 an hour when first turned on and then works fine after it is warmed up. Any solution?

This may seem like a generic answer, but it's not. Your Power Supply board may have a few failing capacitors. A capacitor will often "fly right" after it warms up a bit. You should stop using it until this problem is resolved. Most often the capacitors are used to filter out "ripple" from the DC voltage it is in circuit with. When the capacitor is weak or failing, the "ripple" or unclean voltage can cause damage to the Y-Sustain board. An easy fix can become a costly repair. I hope this was helpful, best wishes.
