We tried to view pictures on the camera, but the screen on the back shows 'card error'. We tried the old (original) camera card and no good. We are able to read both cards with the printer. We put new batteries in. Tried to do what the manual says and take the batteries out and let it rest and try again....still no good.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have the same problem with my FinePix A340. I tried to view my pictures and it says "card error." I put a new card in and I get the same "card error" reading. I love the camera, it's easy to use, but my pictures are on the cards and I can't retrieve them. Can this problem be fixed?I have the same problem with my FinePix A340. I had this problem intermittently for months - finally it is solved! I folded a piece of paper the same size and thickness as the xd card but longer so I could hold it, checked that it fitted right into the slot neatly, dabbed the end in a tiny bit of methylated spirit and scrubbed it in and out and side to side. I had already tried thiswithout the methys and it made no difference but after scrubbing FOR SEVERAL MINUTES now it works fine again!

Re: Fuji FinePix A340
Your problem seem to be the card reader in the camera body have contact problem, first thing is to ensure is there anything inside the hole where you insert your mem card, second ,try to use contact cleaner to clean up the card reader .hope it help.

I have a brand new fuji finepix 1000fd and was having the same problem (tried two different cards). I contacted Fuji service and they said only Sandisk and Fujifilm SD cards are guaranteed to work. I bought a Sandisk Ultra II 2 GB card ($20 at Office Depot) and after 20 pictures I haven't had an error.... yet.
the only wayi found to make the card accepted is to upgrade the firmware software, this can be downloaded from fuji website, and extract the file and copy it in the initial memory card supplied with the camera, then put bnewly charged batteries or ac adapter and on the camera holding the disp/back button. then it will show the option for the update, and then click ok . after installing ne firmware switch of the camera and put the new xd card on the camera and format the card. this will enable you to shoot inthe new card.
a340 needs a firmware update from fuji to work w/xd cards that have a h or m on card-should work ok w/older cards-check mem card and update camera from website to make compatible w/new type card
Try opening your My Computer screen, connect the camera to the computer
and watch for the new removable disk to show up. Depending on the
camera there may be two that show up. Right click on the removable
disk/disks and choose format, click start and click okay. This should
fully reformat the memory and you'll be able to take pictures again.
If your new xD card is an "H" or "M" type card, it is only compatable with the A340 following a firmware upgrade to the camera. http://www.fujifilm.ca/x3721.xml is a link to the software and steps you can take to perform the upgrade.
Storage cards can go bad, but usually this happens only after a long period of
time (years), or if exposed to a magnetic force of some kind.
You can try a few things to resolve it:
1. Try reformatting the card, if the device can process data on it.
2.
Insert the card into a card reader on a PC to see if the drive can be
read. If you can read the card, remove all data and empty the trash,
then reformat it.
3. If you get an error on that as well, replace it.
It's not worth risking that you might lose your valuable pictures to unstable media.
Good luck.
