Was gone on vacation for 10 days. When I got home and turned on my tv all I got were a bunch of vertical colored lines covering the screen. I still have sound but no picture at all.
I was given 3 zenith p42w46x plasma tv's, two had flickering screens and one with white and yellow verticle lines. On the tv with the flickering, I found two axial electrolytic capacitors in the power supply that were bad and one on the Y-SUS board, was either C54 or C51 still had the problem, when I jumpered C72 the picture cleared up just like new. The CAP looks like a SECRET!!! part number, like they don't want you to fix the board, but throw it out and buy a new one. Yea! bite me, that's not going to happen. Usually the first things to go are the electrolytic capacitors, if the problem comes and goes or it gets worse the longer the tv is on, you can bet its a capacitor, check them first. If it's an IC, the problem usually stays the same no matter how long the TV has been on . So far I'm about five bucks into parts on this TV, looks great, Two to go. I ordered capacitors from Digi-Key, I called Zenith customer service at 10PM, Alabama, Joe Bob couldn't tell me if they sold schematics, so have to call parts 1-888-393-6484 in the morning. I ordered a schematic from ManualParadise, mistake!, 4 pages to a page PDF file, you'd need an electron microscope to read it, half the circuit board schematics are missing, THE ONES WITH THE SECRET NUMBERS!, But I think I've figured it out.I was given 3 zenith p42w46x plasma tv's, two had flickering screens and one with white and yellow verticle lines. I have a similar problem with my P42W46X. The screen is a mass of colored vertical stripes where the predominant color most of the time is yellow. Originally I could get sound through a TIVO program, but now nothing works (we have Direct TV, but they say it is a TV problem) - no sound, no program changes, just this screen. I am assuming from reading these posts that one or more components have blown on one of the boards. Is there an easy way to find out which one, or can I buy the appropriate board to replace myself? If so where?I have a similar problem with my P42W46X. The screen is a mass of colored vertical stripes where the predominant color most of the time is yellow. in your case i have 2 posibble answers.
1) negative image tv turns on and shots down in 2sec flashing pixels on screen dark image has sound but no video screen goes black and then return to normal picture vertical color lines on screen no video vertical color lines with video vertical bars on screen horizontal lines on the image picture goes red after while
IT COLUD BE (X or Y or Z SUSTAIN BOARDS )
2) just left part of screen working just right part of the screen is working vertical and horizontal lines on screen part of screen not working some functions not working no video but has sound functions not working at all
IT COULD BE (LOGIC CONTROL BOARD)

Take your set to a qualified tech you have a bad vertical ic or some cap around the vertical section is not filtering the voltage properly and your deflection yoke could also be bad.good luck.
SAME AS ABOVE
