Question about JVC GRDX77 MiniDV Camcorder
This 700x dv was in storage for a while. I plugged it in, charged it, now the view finder & monitor are pitch black. I can't see objects. It normally doesn't need a video tape or memory chip to see objects on the view finder & monitor. I tried increasing brightness, turning off fade to black, and rebooting by removing the battery. Is there some way I can fix this without sending it in for repair? Thanks
Sorry, The bad news is you need to send it to JVC factory service for repair. The good news is they will fix it for free. It has a failed ccd which was a mass prduction problem. Go to www.jvcservice.com. You'll see your model number in the list. Just follw directions from there. Good luck! magic seadog

Tips for a great answer:
The image will not appear simultaneously on the LCD
monitor and the viewfinder. It will appear in the
viewfinder when the LCD monitor is in the lock position,
and it will appear on the LCD monitor when fully
The most likely cause for this is a damaged or defective flexible ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the camera body and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.
