I have a Lexmark X5150 and have always used Lexmark Brand #82 Black and #83 Color ink cartridges. Tried a remanufactured cartridge years ago and was very disappointed.
I recently purchased 6 black Lexmark Brand cartridges from a mail order company I have dealt with for years, and 1 black Lexmark Brand cartridge from a local Office Max store. So far I have had problems with 4 of them. I still have 3 unopened ones that I haven't tried yet. They print fine until the cartridge is about 1/2 empty, and then they just stop printing completely. I have tried cleaning the nozzles and aligning the cartridges, but nothing helps. I can't figure out if all of the cartridges came from a bad batch, or if something is wrong with my printer. I never experienced this problem until now. The color cartridges work fine.
Only thing I've noticed is that the black ones were made in the Philippines and the color ones were made in Mexico. As I said, possible bad batch from the Philippines?
So I have 2 questions: (1) Is anyone else experiencing a similar problem with ink cartridges or could the problem be with my printer? (2) Can anyone recommend a company that sells decent remanufactured cartridges so I can give one of them a try?
The original Lexmark-branded 81 and 82 cartridges shouldn't cause a problem - regardless of the country of origin. I can't speak to any reman or refills, because quality varies widely. Have you contacted Lexmark's technical support - accessible via www.lexmark.com? There should be a solution for the Lexmark-branded cartridges. If that doesn't work, put one of the "bad" Lexmark cartridges in their recycling bag and include a note about your problem, including your email address.
