Blurry and convergence doesn't work

I have a mitsubishi 55 inch HD 1080. The picture is highly distorted on Cable tv (almost showing double) and slightly distorted on DVDs. Even when I set it to default it does not correct itself. When I go into advance settings in the menu i'm only able to change the convergence horizontally and not vertically.

I have same problem....Had It fixed once and seems the problem has come back even worse.

Each gun color is seperated and you see 3 of every thing on the screen.

I have the Mitsubshi Hdtv 2003 model WS-B55

We have been having trouble with the color red distorted along with a double picture. We've tried to converge manually using the remote and settings but the vertical won't move.Distortion is more on the outsides of the picture. What else can you tell us to do? Thank you Nancy

Harley, can you show pictures of these parts so that I know exactly what I'm taking out? there is so much metal in there and I don't want to take the wrong thing out.

I had the same problem. here is how i fixed it: Unplug the set.take off the back panel, the big silver metal heat dispersing element has to come out.its about 5" by 6" the two modules are clamped to the back of this part. I had to slide out the whole board.what has caused the problem is the thermal compound has gotten old and has worn out. clean off the old and buy some new compound at any computer store. i got mine at Best Buy. Its not that hard to do. Don't let all the wires freak you out. unplug all of them. they can only go back in the same place they came from. I could go into a lot of detail on how i did this but that's the just of it.

The heat dispersing element looks kind of like a piece of cori gated metal.its right in the center of the computer board. You cant miss it.You have to slide out the whole board. once you slid out the computer board you will see the two modules clamped to the back of the piece im trying to describe.Im sorry but i cant take any pic's until this weekend.

MITSUBISHI HD 1080 series

most likely the convergence Ics have failed. Check F9a04 and F9A05 pico fuses if they are blown you will need to replace them and the convergence Ics.They are located on the center board they are green and look like resistors without the color band. see the photoa193b32.jpg82b89b8.jpg

Concaved distorted picture in 1080 Mitsubishi 65" TV.

This is a convergence rpoblem that is either bad connections on the pins of the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you can solder and are comfortable working inside TVs where there are potentially dangerous high voltages, let me know and I'll provide additional details and instructions for fixing this yourself.

Big screen showing double and red ghost color

Go into your service menu and try to adjust the convergence, if it does not adjust, the IC's ( chips) are bad in that circuit. Call a local factory authorized dealer to service your tv. The cost should run around $450.00. Good luck.
