I have downloaded a copy of flash player 9 from oldapps.com. This download came in the form of a zip file. When I unpacked the file and selected the file that is supposed to work on a system operating with windows XP Professional 2002 and Internet Explorer. When I clicked for the file to run a window titled ''Adobe Flash Player ActiveX Setup: Installing'' opened. A fraction of a second later another window opened, this one simply titled ''Adobe Flash Player ActiveX setup'' stated “The version of Adobe Flash Player ActiveX that you are trying to install is not the most current version. Please visit http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer to obtain the latest, most secure version”. It didn't matter if I clicked on the ''X'' in the corner or the ''OK'' button, the result was the same, installation was aborted. If you want to get a firsthand look at the windows I have posted a screen capture of them at http://www.flickr.com/photos/36289043@N04/3349672623/. I have no idea what to do to get the Flash player 9 to install onto my computer and have tried to post at oldapps and haven't been able to get on the board, I am hopeful that I will be able to find a solution here.
Thank you rajak2009 but all three of the links you suggested produced a copy of Adobe Flash Player 10. I have a program that I use quite often that will not work with the latest version of flash, that is why I am trying to install flash 9. It could be that your system is too old for safari, you've not said what operating system you are running. You could try downloading a copy for your system from http://mac.oldapps.com/safari.php

latest version of Flash for Android devices has been released by Adobe, you can get it on your Sony Ericsson Xpreia X8 running Android 2.1 ?clair. Just follow these simple steps and you will be enjoying flash playback on your handset in no time.
First of all, download 'flash_for_2.1.zip' from this link
http://www.addictivetips.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/flash_for_21.zip and extract the .apk file that it contains to your computer. Now connect your phone to your computer via USB and copy the .apk file to your SD card's root folder. Make sure that you don't copy it to a sub-folder as it will not work that way.
Next, install the 'Apps Installer' application, which can be found at the Android Market. Once it has been installed, launch it and follow its instructions to browse to the .apk file that you copied to your storage card, and install it.
Once the installation is finished, reboot your phone, and you're done. You can now start browsing flash websites on your phone.

What browser are you using? In Firefox when I clicked on the Adobe reader icon at adobe.com a plugin box opened and the install was very fast. There was also a link that downloaded the install file. Download an earlier version of adobe from oldapps.com and let the program update sequentially until you get upto version 9.
