Jvc 32" has grouping of thin white lines at top of picture extending 4" down from top of frame
This problem started 6 months ago and comes on when the t.v. is turned on and does not go away. It is a standard tube television and is about 5 years old. Other than that the picture color, clarity is very good. Any idea what it is and if it's worth fixing?

RCA Entertainment Series 32" Plus Gold, GEMSTAR, xbox ready has been in the shop twice so far. Transformer replaced and 6 months later the picture suddenly had horizontal white lines that gradually spaced apart more from top to bottom and it had a gray hue and fuzzy, but I still watched it for 3 months that way. Today I turned it on and about a minute later I heard a loud crackling sound coming from the back and the picture disappeared, screen went black. Is it worth fixing again? Please contact me at [email protected]
The original white line problem was caused by improper adjustment of the vertical size for which there is an internal adjustment.
The current problem could come from two different sources, one an adjustment again, the other from a capacitor that is losing capacitance and gaining losses; = sick.
If you are fortunate enough to have a surviving TV repair in your area, none of these problems is expensive to find or correct.
Don't be surprised to find the only TV shop operating out of a messy garage since those of us doing this kind of service are dying off and the price one can charge for labor has shrunken to the point that a real business address is too expensive to have.
Without seeing the lines in question, it is difficult to say 100%. But, if the panel was cracked, the only remedy is to replace the panel. Given its age (3 months), unless there is specific evidence of impact, I would suggest that the crack may have come from the frame moving with time. Don't waste your time with the local shop. Call JVC directly and indicate that you had no impact on the TV and that the "shop" is trying to not repair it. Verify that the TV has the same problem as when you brought it to the shop.
Set starts, horizontal and vertical deflection work, HT ok, crt heaters ok, but no sound or picture
I turned the G2 voltage up and noticed a white screen with flyback
lines, frame ok. I detected two badly soldered double diode rectifiers
in the secondary part of the power supply ! I checked all other joints,
and everything was ok !! success
White horizontal line (no vertical deflection)
Check / replace R548, R549
Sound but no picture except for a couple of horizontal colour lines
Replaced the frame chip TDA8356, set now ok
I am not sure of the part number, but I had this problem with mine a few years ago, it involves replacement of a 4 inch square board (mine has the number LCA90059 on it with the words CRT SKT PB ***'Y on it) 2 wires coming from it (one 6 wire group with white plug ins on each end, and one 4 wire group with white plug ins on each end) and a large white plastic turbine looking thing (non moving) in the center with a yellow plug on one side of the top, along with a silver 2 in long by 1 in high heat sink on it with the letter B on the opposite side of it. Hope that helps! I noticed its been posted a while, but maybe this info will help someone else.
I am having Red Convergence problems with mine which is what prompted me here ,,, it will not work in auto convergence, and when I manually do it, the red will not move left or right, only up and down.
