Question about GE VG4060 VCR
Hold down the power button (or the vcr button if on a combination remote) for six seconds. This will unlock the child lock feature of the vcr.

How old is your vcr if it's over 1 yr old please do the following disconnect from mains supply remove all leads connecting to vcr and remove from cabinet or stand get a small bowl for the screws locatethem remove said screws and place in bowl now remove lid from vcr and check and see if there is a video tape jamed if so just carfuly remove from arround guides and drum head once you have removed jammed tape plug vcr back in mains and press eject on vcr remote or on front pannel next get cotten buds and give left head a wipe then the right head a wipe next carefully remove video tape press the right flap button in and carefully remove from loading bay lift flap to loading bay of vcr with left hand ad gently pull video tape out trying not to dammage the tape once clear use finger under tape wind up tape that's exposed if all goes well you may place a video cleaning tape in not wet but dry and it should accept this if video turns off and when you turn back on and same resaults please take in for repair replace screws hope all goes well

The cassette will have to be manually extracted. The "safe" mode simply means that the machine has detected a problem with the mechanism, usually related to the shuttle function not taking place....accordianman
