Ice maker on GE Profile Refrigerator side by side model PCF 25

Ice is made but clumps with melting outside of bin- temperature is -2

  • jjgrim Mar 21, 2009

The ice cubes get stuck in the chute, and eventually refreeze into one big clump unless I constantly clean out the chute manually using hot water. The little white plastic door with a cushion in the center has fallen out, and I can't seem to be able to orient and hold it to re-insert it. The part is not broken.

How can I remove the ice drawer of my GE Profile side by side integrated ice machine?

Is it the clump of ice that's connected to a mechanism? That's what you wrote. Melt the clump until the mechanism is free at last, free at last, thank god almighty, free at last. (MLK)

Vegges frozen...ice in ice maker melting GE model PSW 26 LSRD refrigerator

Checkthe freezer temperature. The proper freezer temperature should be around 5degrees. The warmer it is in the freezer, the more difficult it is to make ice.

GE refrigerator, ice melts in ice bin

Since your refrig is cooling , I would replace the # 4 AND # 5 thermistors . The # 4 thermistor , tells the main control board , the temp of the coils , if they need defrosted , when they are thru defrosting . This thermistor is the 1 " long , torpedo looking piece , clipped on the top left of the coils , with 2 white wires going to it . Part number WR55X10025 . It would be advisable to also replace the # 5 thermistor , located at the bottom of the freezer , slightly in front of the drain , also with 2 white wires going to it , slid into a housing . This thermistor , is the freezer thermistor , which tells the control board , the freezer temp , when to cycle off , associated with the fan speed also .
