Question about Sanyo PLV Z1 Multimedia Projector
I have a Sanyo PLV-Z1 Projector and the Ready light is green and the Lamp light is red. When I click the power button the green ready light goes off and the projector light comes on for about 1 sec then it turns back off. The projector at this point turns itself back off. The lights go back to what they were before (Ready light is green and the Lamp light is red). Do you know what the issue is with the projector?
Hey zrscott388, did you end up replacing the bulb and did that fix it? My Z1 is doing the same thing. I hate to spend 300-400 on a bulb and it doesn't work. The Z5 is going for 1100 new on Ebay. I rather do that than waste money. Please let me know.

I must have missed the part where you say the projector light comes on. Mine does not, however the indicators do the same thing. I pulled the bulb this evening and checked with an ohm meter - nothing. I also noticed a small chard of glass inside it. I am now thinking it has to be a bulb. I have read about the ballast going out which may be your problem. I'm just hoping I don't have both out. How much did you spend on the bulb?
I also have the Sanyo repair manual for the PLV-Z1 in PDF format. I be happy to e-mail if you think it may be of use.
Did you sell your bulbs? I just now saw the e-mail on your recent post. I've been lazy about fixing mine seeing how there is also a tv behind my projector screen. If your still looking to sell, I would be interested in knowing your price.

I have a Sanyo XU35. Mine was starting up and showed a picture for about 15 - 30 seconds then shutting down. My lamp warning light was not coming on. When I put it in for repairs it turned out to be the lamp that needed replacing. The technician said it is not uncomman for the lamp to be gone and the lamp warning light not to come on. I got my lamp on e-bay from ping_ngo for a great price.

Replaced the bulb and it did not fix the problem. My recommendation is to either buy a new or get the old one fixed. I have not yet priced the cost on getting it fixed but now that I have 2 bulbs I guess I need to get it fixed.
Paid around $280 if I recall correctly. Shop online.
Ok, I finally broke down since the bulb was not the problem and took it down to the shop for a $30 analysis. Turns out the board that powers the bulb is fried. Cost of part around $200, cost of labor is around $130. Does not make sense to fix it with technology changing. Now, I have two working bulbs for this projector so I think I need to sell them. One is brand new and the other does not have many hours on it as we only used it for rented movies. I think I will also look for used models of this projector as well since I have 2 bulbs. = ) Contact me if you are looking to buy a bulb.
Having the same issue. time to dump the projector?
The projector is showing that it is on, due to the fact that the red and green lights are on, but it seems as though the projector image doesn't reach the canvas. Its bulbs were supposed to last close to ten years, so that is ruled out, none of the troubleshoot lights are on. This is the first time we have had this issue. What could be the issue?
