The unit turns on but there is a PO VO with a 1.15 on the screen. Repair guy said it is in service mode. Not sure how it go there and not sure how to get it off there. He also says (w/o charging me) that the memory made it go into service mode and it has now confused the TV. (HUH?). Told me to also get ready to pay $300-400 to fix it. The buttons on the front work, just the wrong one for the wrong item, i.e. volume up brings up menu, power and menu button do nothing, so on and so forth. Can anyone help me?! Bought TV second hand so not sure what to do with it.
But there are two
quick things you might be able to do. If it is a PTK195 you can most
likely install the updated power supply board. If you can solder and
know safety (like discharging caps) you can update the PS chip from an
STK730-??? to an STK730-180 (IIRC). I found that simply replacing the
chip with an equivalent fails most of the time. The 180s seem to hold
up.
