Question about RCA P52939 52" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

RCA 52" Mdl P52939, PTK195S16B

The unit turns on but there is a PO VO with a 1.15 on the screen. Repair guy said it is in service mode. Not sure how it go there and not sure how to get it off there. He also says (w/o charging me) that the memory made it go into service mode and it has now confused the TV. (HUH?). Told me to also get ready to pay $300-400 to fix it. The buttons on the front work, just the wrong one for the wrong item, i.e. volume up brings up menu, power and menu button do nothing, so on and so forth. Can anyone help me?! Bought TV second hand so not sure what to do with it.

But there are two
quick things you might be able to do. If it is a PTK195 you can most
likely install the updated power supply board. If you can solder and
know safety (like discharging caps) you can update the PS chip from an
STK730-??? to an STK730-180 (IIRC). I found that simply replacing the
chip with an equivalent fails most of the time. The 180s seem to hold
up.

Coleman evcon eg17a a/c unit cools but will not shut off once desired temp is reached how do i fix problem

Make sure your thermostat is set up correctly. Check out
How to Set the Thermostat FAN AUTO ON or OFF Switch function var po... just to make sure. If it is then try resetting the a/c. First turn the breaker off for the condenser and wait about 20 seconds. After you turn it back on the system should reset. If it is still giving trouble then id suggest you contact an Air Conditioning Repair Service.

1) change the batteries by new ones
2) clean the contacts batteries with spray contacts cleaner
3) resolder the wires connector batteries.
4) open the rem.contro and clean the keypad from oxide, with cleaner contacts.
5) otherwise you must go to the repair shop TV.

TV turns off and standby light blinks. Blinks 3 times, pauses, blinks again 3 times.

Hi there,
Three blinks means technically 'B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power supply circuit, check T603 and R672.'
After a little more research i found this comment:

"Guys I have found the problem. (referring to T603 and R672) I have found mine anyway. When I replaced my projection lamp, I failed to push the lever all the way down, but this was not the problem, just something you need to be sure to check. The problem was the lamp door. This needs to be shut properly. I found another thread where a guy had tried the same thing. It worked. The door clicks hard at the end to set itself. This worked for me. Hope it helps you."

IMPORTANT: After you repair the unit, you MUST clear the values on this diagnostic screen. These codes do not reset themselves after the fault is corrected, so if you don't clear them, you'll be seeing "old" fault codes the next time you enter this screen. Clearing is done by going into the service mode (display, channel, 5, volume plus, then power ). Press 8 and Enter, which returns everything to the factory preset condition.

So my question is have you replaced the lamp?

Hope this helps

226bw power light turns on but no signal that it is working

sarahmatheso, If you know for sure pc boots to win-desktop, then and only then turn-on your Samsung 226bw. Do you see any ICONS when holding bright flashlight 1 inch from screen and at several different angles. If 226bw "switch-mode-power-supply" is in partial shutdown, then you might see a very faint image on the lcd panel. If SMPS is in full shutdown mode you won't see anything. If warranty is valid option, I suggest you call Samsung. No warranty you will need to investigate repair options that you will find in my fixya profile. Your "BLACK and BLANK?? screen Samsung isn't any different than any other brand in it's basic operation. Follow website leads in profile to understand what may be the cause of black screen symptom. I just clued-in a guy the other day and he repaired his unit for less than $6 in parts. Sarah, Do a comment to this posting if you can't reach my fixya profile, or you don't understand the options you have after doing some research. 12fixlouie on fixya

I bought a brand new 42 inch plasma vi vo tv 2

New products do fail. The set should certainly be under warranty. I would speak to the dealer you purchased the unit from and see what they suggest. Don't remove the rear cover, or do anything else to give anyone a reason to void your warranty. Most brands are 90 days on parts and labor.

I can't take pictures....

This error message TURN THE POWER OFF AND ON AGAIN is a common error message for digital cameras that has a zoom lens. One possible cause for this is that the battery may had drained out and the lens is still extended. There would be different that steps you could perform and make sure you have fresh or fully charged batteries when performing these steps.

First of course try to do what the error states.

If will not work, set the unit in PLAY mode before turning it ON or immediately right after you press the power. If it successfully gets through the PLAY mode, initialize the settings and restart th camera. You could initialize it by going to the menu and then setup.

If still will not work, turn it off and also remove the battery and allow it to have no power at all for a minute.

If all the steps above will still not work. your camera would require service and try calling its manufacturer to setup a repair on it.
