Question about Black & Decker T1029 Classic Chrome 2-Slice Toaster
I just started using my new toaster. I toasted 2 bagels with no problems. We went to toast some bread and now the lever that you press down in order to turn it on won't lock. I need to know whether it's broken or something jammed in there that can be fixed.
Main problem with these is crumbs, they get stuck between the 2 surfaces of the small electromagnet that keeps the lever down, consequently it does not stick anymore, try drop kicking it in the drection of the garbage can, this sort fright may just scare it into working again.

sometimes will not lock have shaken crumbs out and it is better but I am not sure.
Back in the 50's, you knew your baby doll had met her end when your thumb went through her gummy, rubber stomach. The blue "egg" handle on this toaster lever feels exactly the same. It looks as though it's been directly molded to the lever, however. I don't know how to get it off, or what to use in its place if B&D does not offer replacement blue "eggs". This was a very high-end design toaster in its day, and it works really well. I just can't put it in a land fill.
