Sharp R-1611 panel display, lights & touch pad not working
Used the microwave 1/2 hr earlier with no problems went to use it again and found the above symptoms. Have had a previous history of the display not illuminating all characters fully. Currently the panel display has a faint glow when plugged in but no character illumination.

" 1. CHILD LOCK
The Child Lock prevents unwanted oven operation
such as by small children. The oven can be set so
that the control panel is deactivated or locked. To
set, touch Custom Help, the number 1 and Start/
Touch On. Should a pad be touched, LOCK .
.. ON will appear in the display.
To cancel, touch Custom Help and Stop/Clear. "
Reset the clock. Press "Clock" and the correct time, using
the number pads. Press "AM/PM" if applicable, and press "Start" or
"Clock" to confirm.
Press "Timer On/Off" to reset the timer if nothing on the
touch pad will operate. Use the number pads to select a new timed
amount, if desired, and press "Timer On/Off" to start. Press again to
Press and hold "Clear/Off" for three seconds if the timer
will not function or is blinking when you touch the pads. This will
release the "Child Lock" feature. Make a new touch pad selection.
Disconnect power to the microwave if following Steps 1
through 3 does not resolve the blinking timer. Wait a few minutes, and
then restore power to reset the microwave.
