Screen says "card is locked"

Can see pictures on card. Can't take more pictures. If card is taken out of camera, camera works fine but won't take pictures when card re-inserted. Every thing else about the camera works fine. There is nothing in the manual about how to unlock the card. The screen does say, in the on line share mode, that the card has to be unlocked to use this feature, but doesn't say how to unlock the card. This HP M425 has been an excellent digital camera.

You have an sd card for this cam, depending on who made the card
there is a little white tab,or grey, on the side of the card, you can see that it can slide back and forth, and you should see the word lock,
just make sure the little tab is not on lock, slide it the other way.

You max card size is 2gig, and the first time you put in a new card you have to format the card with the camera.

Screen reads "memory card is

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

If display screen on camera is damaged, will the pictures already taken be damaged?

No your pictures already taken are fine as they are stored on the memory card.

If there is no other damage to the camera you can still take pictures and they too will be fine.

Hope this helped. Please rate the answer if it does.

New camera ,not working.

lol, ok...The memory card will only go in one way. But check the little white switch on the side of the memory card and make sure it is NOT in the locked position. Once this is taken care of reinstall the memory card. Now in you options/menu screen you can select on there where you want your pictures to be stored...Device / Memory / Auto. You can either put it on Memory or Auto (if you have this). In addition, you may need to format your new memory card. This is also in your menu screen to Format Memory Card. Go ahead and do this. But be forwarned...if you do this when you have pictures on your card, it will erase all of your pictures completely. If you do those things, everything should work fine. You don't need a full charge for your camera to work, but if you have rechargable batteries, it is recommended to fully charge your camera before use. If you are using standard AA batteries this isn't necessary. Oh, and when your memory card is in the camera you should see a little icon on your LCD screen that looks like a mini memory card. This is an indicator that the camera recognizes you have the memory card in the camera and along with that will be a counter...ie 4/1200. The first number is the amount of pictures taken on the card currently and the second number is the total possible pictures you can take on the card before it is full.

Card locked canon powershot sd750

Check the switch on the side of your SD memory card. It is a small sliding switch which has a lock position. Sounds like the switch is in the "locked" position. Unlock, reload card, & you should be good to go. If not, the card is probably damaged.

Memory card problem

Assuming your camera acts like a removable drive when connected to the PC try the following.

  1. Right click the removable drive(your camera) in my computer and go properties>tools>error checking>tick both boxes>ok
  2. Wait till it finishes and check if you can now view the contents of the card. And copy to safe place straight away.
  3. Try http://www.officerecovery.com/freeundelete/ to recover any deleted files or fragments of damaged files.
  4. Let me know if any of this works.
