If you wish to burn cd's which is your burner then you need a software called nero burning rom or any other burning software that lets you burn data or audio cd's or vcd's to burn with if you wish to burn dvd's then you need a dvd burner combo drive which lets you burn dvds

If your Drive is a CD-Rome drive, surely it cant, for the drive cant read dvd disc. Replace the drive of yours with DVD-Rom or DVD-RW in order to play dvd disc, DVD-RW simply has the added capablity to burn on DVD discs

Dimension E510 dvd burner will not burn

Go to this link and click on the Fixit box. Microsoft has an issue with CD/DVD recognition and created a patch. This happens a lot when Windows Update runs and installs SP3. Hope this solves your problem. If it doesn't, right click on your DVD drive and ensure that recording is enabled. Hope this solves your recording issue.

Not able to burn dvds from file

Hi,

if your DVD Drive ( ROM ) read-Only-Memory. then it will only read DVDs And Not Write Them. You need a DVD RW Drive, to be able to write. If Your CD Drive Is A CD/RW That means its a CD Re-writable drive. try a Burn To CD.

Why my [sony cd rw dvd rom] will not detect a blank dvd disk

If you have the sony CD RW DVD ROM then you can't burn the data in a blank DVD.

Because your Configuration is :
Read : CD / DVD
Write : CD

This means you have a combo drive. But to burn a DVD you should have DVD RW.
