SOURCE: I have a Pressure Washer

Derek, Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

I just now happened across your post and note it is 3 months old. Hopefully you already have the problem solved.

If not.. looking at the pump history of having the un-loader valve replaced it sure seems that the current un-loader valve is sticking. When an un-loader valve is removed the internal housing is sanded smooth and everything about the un-loader valve is coated with Lubriplate #105 White Grease. I get the feeling that who ever did the un-loader valve repair failed to sand / clean the housing and use White Grease for the final assembly.

You should remove the valve... Sand the housing and get some Lubriplate #105 white grease (auto parts store) in a tube. Lubricate it liberally and reassemble it. If should work fine after that.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Little plastic parts behind the six big nuts on brass end of the pump have melted.

Hi
These are the valves If they are melted this is because the washer is being left running without being triggered. I also suspect yoru unloader may be failing...your will want your unloader tested. The only way to test anything is to replace these valves first. unfortunately I would also inspect your packings as well as the pistons. when water builds up for a length of time without triggering the washer it recycles and builds up heat....this heat starts to melt your valves....this can also happen by starving your pump for water....running it without water....or by a failed unloader where it doesnt allow water to bypass...do you have to pull the trigger of your wand to start it? If so then your unloader needs work. If it has been starved for water..then your packings will show that damage as well...Usually the farthest set from the inlet having the most damage. Also, when that all get hot as soon as you trigger it and cold water is introduced into the pump, this "shocks" the pump packings and pistons. You want to check the pistons to see if they have cracked..So inspect your pump oil for water...look to see if its white-ish looking... Check your pistons for cracks...check your packings for wear. If you see wear that increasingly gets worse the farther away from your pump inlet then thats a tell tale sign of starvation. ..if your pistons are cracked you will need to replace packings as well anyway. Then replace your valves...reassemble and test your unloader. Good luck to you man. B&E pressure washer w/ comet 3540 pump

Things to check:
1) is water coming out of the bottom of the pump or is the oil in the crankcase high level and milky yellow. If so your seals are bad.

2) Your check valves might not be seating properly. A couple of fouled check vavles will cause either no pressure or pulsing pressure. A good inlet water strainer keeps foreign matter out of valves. But valves do wear out and get build up that keeps them from working right.

3) Your unloader valve might be worn or fouled. Bad unloader would usually show as low pressure ( but more than hose pressure) or low volume out the trigger nozzle.

Valves are your most likely problem.

Comet axd 3020 will not build pressure

junk axial wobble plate pump. Usually axial pumps are not worth the time to try to fix them. This one has a 5 year warranty , so they think they have a pretty good one. ( I would never buy one) If you want to try to fix it, I would check the check valves first. Take them out and see if some are broken or not sealing properly. There is a valve kit available.
The other likely problem is your unloader valve. If the seal is shot or the valve stuck open the pump will not build pressure.

My pressure washer stops running when i let off the trigger

hi there sal rick85

sounds like the unloader valve is not working or stuck closed , check the setting of the unloader valve may be set too high, the unloader must open in odrder to cycle water back to inlet side of pump - if not builds up heaps of pressure , stalls the engine - service the un loader valves on the pressure head

take look and let me know - what brand your blaster unit is i know its honda but what pump
comet - axd, lw/zw, - in line or axial cam

Pump pumps pressure as it should but when I release the trigger on the wand it wants to keep pumping instead of going into bypass mode. Is there a simple fix or do I need to have it repaired or replaced?...

Dennis,
Your issue is going to be in the unloader valve, I don't have a breakdown of the pump that you have but if you take the pressure adjustment valve out of the pump you can easily fix the issue. Look for a piston, with o-rings that moves up and down, either on the shaft of the adjustment valve or down inside the cylinder of where you removed the adustment valve. Clean the piston and/or o-rings, lube them with a white lithum grease (product in a tube, not the spray can). Put the adjustment valve back together the way you removed it and it should work correctly after that.

I have a northstar pressure washer with a comet pump AXD 3020G that will not build up pressure, can you give me some ideas on what may be wrong ,I have checked the screen on the inlet ,it is clean

Normally, it is one of three things.

1.) The high pressure seals are bad

2.) There is debris in the check valves

3.) the unloader is stuck in by-pass.
