Question about Pioneer CDX-FM1277 12-Disc CD Changer

1 Answer

No power I just bought a used '92 Caddie, with Pioneer CDX-FM1277 12-Disc CD Changer. My voltmeter says that there's juice running to the main unit, but I cannot eject the cd cartridge, and nothing happens when I try the front wired control. It doesn't seem to want to come on. Should I seek professional help, or can any one here give some suggestions.

This is a new , old stock, unit. never used. It will not power up. Will not eject magazine. There is no response when clear button is pushed. Power to unit is good.

You have 12 volts constant on the yellow and 12 volts Switched on the red (when the car is in Ignition/Accessory)? If so, then, yup.... service shop.

Can't remove cd cartridge because won't power up.

With the top off the unit, you can turn the tray gears manually for slow eject function. Unplug unit before touching anything inside, check internal fuses.
Sometimes the little ball bearings that keep the cart trays separated come out causing tray jams and shorts.
Make sure your tray retracts all the way into the player flush with the face plate when loading, gently push it in while retracting for those occasional no-read situations. (Also for Denon that takes these same carts). Also note that the CDs go in the Upside Down position.
