This range of canons are notorious for the paper sensors to go ie malfunction. It may be on the way out, but other issues can cause this type of print error. You need to eliminate all possibilities. First is to trully see if the printer is not having driver errors etc caused by spyware. Do a full spyware and virus check with safe software. Housecall is a good free service online and eliminates what it finds. Next, check printer drivers, go to start menu, control panel, perf and maintenance, system, hardware, scroll down to printer, check for errors, etc. It will tell you under devices if drivers are ok. If this is the problem, it can be fixed with new driver updates from canon. A good place to start if not the problem, is next eliminate a built up residue on print head. This range of canons also clog really easily. I use cotton buds and proper cleaning solution, and clean the area thoroughly where cartridge goes in (printhead)the printers own cleaning system cannot overcome this type of clog itself. Now try printing again. Good luck

The printer won't print out any of the reds in my images, even when the colour cartridge has just been replaced, and prints any red areas in yellow instead.

Hi is this a new printer? If you've just installed a new color ink, it would prompt you to align the cartridge or print some test page.. If the RED doesnt show on the test page, then try to perform maintenance on it.. Like Clean cartridge or clean print head.. it may be clogged.. if it still does this, try changing the color ink.. If you color ink is from a stock, it may have dried up.. if you bought it just days ago, ask for a replacement.. If all has been done, it maybe the printer itself..

Hope this helps.. :D

PRINTER COLOR PROBLEMS

o.k. I can give you a few tips that may be of assistance.

you need to run a printer alignment page like you do when you put in new cartridges.

unplug your printer plug it back in.
open door and take out print ink cartridges.
put them back in and then close the door.

It should now prompt you to do a test alignment page.

Also, Another thing to try is to hit file, top left of page, hit print, click properties. color tab.

make sure you are printing high quality on chose different color management options.

FINALLY TRY THIS:

When Printing Becomes Faint or Colors are Incorrect

When printing becomes faint or colors are incorrect, even if ink remains in
the ink tanks, the print head nozzles are probably clogged. Follow the
procedures below to maintain the print head.
Important Before maintaining the print head, check the following;
􀁺 Open the front cover and make sure that the ink tank
contains ink. If it is out of ink, replace it.
􀁺 Ensure that all the orange tape of the ink tank has been
peeled off.
􀁺 Press "PUSH" on the ink tank and ensure that the ink tank
is installed securely.
􀁺 Increase the Print Quality setting in the printer driver
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern
Print the nozzle check pattern to determine whether the ink ejects properly from the print
head nozzles, and to verify print head alignment. Use this function when printed results are
blurred or the color is incorrect.
1 With the printer on, load a sheet of Letter-sized paper in the printer.
2 Open the Printer Properties dialog box.
See "Opening the Printer Properties Dialog Box Directly from the Start Menu" on
page 25.
3 Print the Nozzle Check Pattern.
(3) When the confirmation message is displayed, click OK.
When the confirmation message is displayed after the nozzle check pattern has
been printed, click OK.
See "Examining the Nozzle Check Pattern" on page 52.
Note Nozzle check pattern printing can be executed also from the printer
itself. With the printer on, load a sheet of Letter-sized paper in the
printer. Hold the RESUME/CANCEL button until the POWER lamp flashes
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Print Head Cleaning
Clean the print head if you suspect that the nozzles might be clogged. Cleaning the print
head consumes ink, so perform print head cleaning only when necessary.
The print head can be cleaned also from the printer itself. With the printer on, load a sheet
of Letter-sized paper in the printer. Hold the RESUME/CANCEL button until the POWER lamp
flashes once.
1 Ensure that the printer is on.
2 Open the Printer Properties dialog box.
See "Opening the Printer Properties Dialog Box Directly from the Start Menu" on
page 25.
3 Start Print Head Cleaning.
(1) Click the Maintenance tab.
(2) Click Cleaning.
(3) Select the print head to be
cleaned.
(4) Click Execute.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Print Head Deep Cleaning
If print quality does not improve by standard print head cleaning, try performing print head
deep cleaning, which is a more powerful process. Print head deep cleaning consumes ink,
so perform this procedure only when necessary.
1 Ensure that the printer is on.
2 Open the Printer Properties dialog box.
See "Opening the Printer Properties Dialog Box Directly from the Start Menu" on
page 25.
3 Start Print Head Deep Cleaning.
(1) Click the Maintenance tab.
(2) Click Deep Cleaning.
(3) Select the print head to be
deeply cleaned.
(4) Click Execute
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aligning the Print Head
This operation must be carried out when using the printer for the first time. Aligning the
print head positions allows you to print without shifts in the color registration.
Print head alignment is performed either automatically or manually. This section deals with
automatic print head alignment only.
1 With the printer on, load a sheet of Letter-sized paper in the printer.
2 Open the Printer Properties dialog box.
See "Opening the Printer Properties Dialog Box Directly from the Start Menu" on
page 25.
3 Print the pattern.
(1) Click the Maintenance tab.
(2) Click Print Head Alignment.
(3) Check that paper is loaded in the
printer and click OK. If a message
warning you not to perform other
operations appears, click OK.
It takes about one minute to start

THE INSTALL COLOR INK NOTICE KEEPS STAYING ON. EVEN AFTER I KEEP INSTALLING DIFFERENT CARTRIDGES

Go into printer maintenance and chose the Canon printer (assuming you have multiple printers). Once you chose the printer you can then perform maintenance and do cleaning and priming. Essentially when you click install new cartridge the system will essentially prime the printer so that when you print a document it will not have to prime itself. It should prime automatically once you close the lid and install the new cartridge.

Printer won't print

Try going to your printer properties and see if there is a setting for either cartridges or color maintenance. If there is, check to see if there is a box to check indicating that you have installed the new magenta and black cartridges. This should alleviate your problems.

Brought 2 new black color inks for lexmark x8350, perform alignment several times and failed, when i set to print only the color will print where as the black color will not print clearly if it prints it...

Please remove the cartridges from the printer. Take a dry lint free paper towel and gently wipe the contacts on the back of the cartridge (not the bottom from where ink is present). Wipe the contacts inside the printer (on cartridge carrier). Please try to print the self test page.
Begin by disconnecting the power supply from the wall (not the back of the printer) for at
least "30 seconds." This is essential. Then plug the printer back in and follow these
steps:
1. Press the "Copy" button.
2. Press the "Menu" button.
3. Press the down arrow button once or until the screen displays "Maintenance."
4. Press the check mark button to select the "Maintenance" menu.
5. Press the down arrow button three times until the screen displays "Print Test Page."
6. Press the check mark button to select this. The Self-Test will start printing.
The self-test should at least print out a set of either black or color bars, if not both
(if you have a printer with both color and black installed simultaneously.) Should this
test fail, try it again without cartridges installed. If the self-test still fails to take
paper in and make sounds like the carrier is moving across the paper, this is a hardware
issue, and the printer will require service. If the self-test completes without any
cartridges installed, run the self-test again with the color cartridge installed. (If you
have both black and color cartridges, after this test, run the test again with just the
black cartridge installed.) If you find that either cartridge causes the self-test to fail
A technique to improve print quality is to try and clean the cartridge nozzles. You can clean the cartridge using the following steps given below:
Click on "Start," go to "All Programs," and down to the Lexmark. Click on the "Solution Center." Next, click on the "Maintenance" tab. Select "Clean to fix horizontal strips." This will produce a printed page.
The colors that you should see here are black, yellow, magenta (a reddish purple) and cyan (a dark sky blue). You should notice the diagonal lines above and below the solid horizontal lines. These diagonal lines should be solid from left to right with no gaps.
If there are gaps in the lines or the print diminishes across the page, you should run the "Clean to fix horizontal strips" page a couple more times to try and clear it up. If you still have gaps at the top and bottom, you should "wick" the cartridges by following the steps given below:
1. Please open the "Solution Center" again and go to the "Maintenance" Tab.
2. Select "Install color/black cartridge" and remove the cartridge (or cartridges) from the printer.
3. Get a damp paper towel.
4. Set the ink cartridge right side up on the damp paper towel so that the ink nozzles are against the towel and hold the cartridge in this position for about 15 seconds.
5. Now wipe the print head (on the bottom where the ink comes out) across in one direction only (left to right) until it looks clean.
6. Next dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure that the ink is flowing.
7. Snap the cartridges back into the printer.
8. On your computer, select "Old Cartridge install."
9. Repeat the "Clean to fix horizontal strips" one more time. If this fails to address the problem, the entire procedure may need repeating.
If you have replaced your ink cartridge with a new one and are continuing to experience difficulties with print quality, please try cleaning and wicking the ink cartridge. If this fails to resolve the issue, the maintenance station may have an excess build-up of ink.
The maintenance station is located inside the printer on the right hand side. This is the same area where the cartridges sit when in the "idle" position. To access the maintenance station: Unplug everything from the back of your printer, open the front cover and look above the steel rod. You should see a conveyor belt with rubber teeth on it, like a fanbelt. On some models, the cartridge access will be very small, but the belt should still be visible. Take the top part of the belt and move it gently to the right.
***Note*** please do not pull outwards on the belt. The cartridges should come over towards the left side of the printer. The maintenance station will be on the right side on the bottom of the printer behind the fixed cover. Clean the area with several damp cotton swabs or damp papertowels until the build up of ink is removed.
Once the maintenance station has been cleaned you should "wick" the cartridges. Remove the cartridge from the printer. Get a clean damp paper towel and lay it on a flat surface. Set the ink cartridge right side up, with the ink nozzles touching the towel and hold in this position for about 15 seconds. Then wipe the nozzles across in one direction only (left to right). Repeat this process, each time using a clean spot on the paper towel, until it looks clean. Dab the cartridge on a dry towel to make sure that the ink is flowing.
After you have wicked the cartridges place them back into the printer, securing them into place. Plug the power back into the printer. Close the cover and click on "Old Cartridge Installed" on the "Control Program" screen. Once the printer has reset, run the "Clean Print Nozzles" page twice. This should resolve the issue.

Help

Hello,

Me is Vikram Kumar Thumu, I have seen your message on the  issue related to the HP Deskjet 5150 Printer. I would like to provide my suggestions on this issue.

The issue could be happen due to following below reasons:

1. If you are using wrong ink cartridge for the Printer.

2. If you are using a refilled ink cartridge

3. If there is an issue with fault with ink cartridge or an issue with ink cartridge slot in the Printer.

4. If there is an issue with Hardware malfunction of Printer.

Well, to resolve the issue I recommend you to try below solutions.

Note **: Your Printer supports below ink cartridges:

Cartridge Part number Black HP 56 (C6656A) Tri-color HP 57 (C6657A) Photo cartridge (optional) HP 58 (C6658A)

Check whether you can installed correct ink cartridges for the Printer or not.

Solution 1: To Hard Reset Printer once.

------------------------------------------------------------

Make sure that Printer is disconnected from the computer.

1. Turn ON the Printer.

2. Raise the top access door of Printer. The carriage assembly should move    towards center of the printer.
Note: for some printers carriage will not move to center.

3. Remove both ink cartridges from Printer.

4. Power OFF printer by pressing the power button of the Printer.

5. Disconnect the power cord from wall outlet and Printer cable (USB or Parallel) from the back of the Printer.

6. Let the Printer remain disconnected for at least 60 seconds.

7. Reconnect power cord and Printer cable (USB or parallel) at back of end Printer.

8. Turn ON the printer.

9. Reinstall both ink cartridges into Printer, make sure that they lock into position and installed in correct ink cartridge slots.

10. Close the top access door firmly.

once if you are done with steps, check the issue. If the issue still persists then please go ahead with next solution.

Solution 2: To Clean the ink cartridges and Cartridge slot in the Printer

Please open below web link.

Link is:

Once if you have opened the web link, please perform the steps that are mentioned in the web page for cleaning ink cartridges and also steps for cleaning ink cartridge slot assembly in the Printer.

I hope that this should resolve the issue. However, if the issue still persists then please go ahead with next solution 3

Solution 3: Testing the ink cartridges of the Printer

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

To isolate the issue by testing the Printer Hardware functionality with " Reserve mode printing " ( this is also called as 'Back up mode'). This is referred as using the Printer with only single ink cartridge. Your Printer model supports for this feature.

Steps are :

1. Open top access cover of Printer and remove the Black ink cartridge from Printer ,make sure that Printer is installed with Color ink cartridge only . Then close the top access cover firmly. Please turn off Printer and Wait for 30 seconds and then turn ON Printer. Check the status of blinking lights on the Printer. If you do not see any blinking lights on the Printer front panel, then cartridge is fine. We can now go ahead with testing Cartridge functionality along with Hardware test of Printer.

Please do these below steps to test Cartridge and hardware of Printer:

1. Turn the printer on.
2. Press and hold the POWER button until step 4.
3. Press the RESUME button four times.
4. Release the POWER button.

This should print a self test page. If you see any information printed on the page, then it confirm that Printer and cartridge is fine else if there is no information printed on the page then it confirms that Cartidge is Out of ink.

Note: you may receive a error code on the test page, please do not worry about that.

Please do below steps similarly to check the issue with Color ink cartridge..

Open top access cover of Printer and remove the Color ink cartridge from Printer ,make sure that Printer is installed with Black ink cartridge only .

I hope this should resolve the issue. If the issue still persists then you may need to service the Printer once.

If you any issues related to the Printer further you can mail me at [email protected]. I will be glad to help you.

Prints only the top 3 inches or so of a web or email page

This is a beginning to be a really common problem with this type of Canon. I had one that did this too,It sounds like your printheads or rollers are dirty and clogged. You need to thoroughly clean the area where the cartidges sit in (printheads) new cartridges and all the allignments in the world will not resolve clogs, and it will not be sufficient to just rely on the canons own cleaning, you have to manually do it with cleaning solution and cotton buds (q-tips)
