we ahve same blue patch problem, but now it has become a yellow patch.took unit to authorised repairer,in australia, they said it would cost nearly the price of a new one to fix,so i suspect it is that prism thing.
does anyone know of a cheaper repair,or a suitable replacement for this [email protected]we ahve same blue patch problem, but now it has become a yellow patch.took unit to authorised repairer,in australia, they said it would cost nearly the price of a new one to fix,so i suspect it is that prism thing.

I am on my second bulb, ~ 3500 hours, and it's really messed up. My whole screen has now turned blue, and It now looks completely yellow as well as some weird dark yellow patches in the middle. I thought my only expense would be a bulb ever year or so, whoever this will probably be very expensive to repair. Not a happy customer, I don't I will ever buy hitachi again.

Ours is doing this too!!!!! We have had it for 2 1/2 years and we thought it was the bulb going bad. We just replaced the bulb and the blue is still there so I started checking on the internet for what it could be and found this site. I am bummed that it just wasn't an easy bulb fix.Ours is doing this too!!!!! We have had it for 2 1/2 years and we thought it was the bulb going bad. Same problem with my PJTX100. My screen is blue on the edges and a large brown / yellow patch in the middle. I thought my only expense would be $300.00 bulbs. (which is bad enough). I will NEVER buy Hitachi again and go out of my way to make sure others don't buy Hitachi as well. They say that the projector is susceptible to overheating when used for many hours in a stretch, which is what causes the LCD panels / prisms to burn out. Don't really see the point of Hitachi loosing money on people not buying more bulbs by selling a projector that only last 1-2 bulbs.

I have an increasing blue patch on the side of the projector image after 4 years use of the projector. The local repair agent in Auckland NZ has been unable to fix the problem. I think this is a very serious failing in an expensive consumer item and I will certainly never purchase a Hitachi projector again.I have an increasing blue patch on the side of the projector image after 4 years use of the projector. A blue patch crawls up the screen and then starts at the bottom again. It is very distracting while watching a movie or tv. Any solutions?A blue patch crawls up the screen and then starts at the bottom again. It is very distracting while watching a movie or tv. Any solutions?

You have to replace prism it has 3 small lcd screens Green Red Blue one of them is beginning to burn they are very expensive strip projector down with no power connected and take damaged screen of then block that area so no light can pass through it with fire resistent material you will get some more life out of it
We had the same problem on our first bulb. I thought it was the bulb going bad but it is actually the projector going bad. I had to send my in to be repaired sorry.

This is your Optics Block failing. One of the filters creating this issue. If you don't have warranty (call SONY customer service to check it out) - watch it like it is until you get new TV. It is very expensive repair.
it's not the prism, it's the light filter on the blue lcd panel. it's starting to fry due to dust and heat. it does need to be replaced, but most companies won't just replace a part in the optical engine, so you'll have to replace the whole optical engine. and it's pricey. but find a hitachi service center (on their website) and ask them.
first reset the settings to factory default. you may have to realign the lcd panels and make sure the panel ribbon cables are properly seated. otherwise, you have a main board issue.
i believe your problem is heat the bulb is getting hot and the air or fan is not working properly so when it hits temp it automatically shuts off check your fan air flow filters etc
I've had one for about a year and a half. This is the second time it happened to me. The first time they replaced it for free(warranty). Now my warranty is up and it is starting to happen again. I think that this must be a common problem in this model. I recommend contacting Hitachi and seeing what they have to say about it. I'm yet to call them again, but I will soon.
