We have had our projector 2 and a half years and are on to our second bulb. Just recently a blue patch is sowing on the screen. this patch is growing in length. Anyone know what the problem is?
You have to replace prism it has 3 small lcd screens Green Red Blue one of them is beginning to burn they are very expensive strip projector down with no power connected and take damaged screen of then block that area so no light can pass through it with fire resistent material you will get some more life out of it

We've checked out the bulb and suspected what you are confirming. thankyou for your help.
growing blue patch is from prism being burnt hitachi only warranty prism for 2000 hrs regardless of time left on warranty try a better brand next time.......
we ahve same blue patch problem, but now it has become a yellow patch.took unit to authorised repairer,in australia, they said it would cost nearly the price of a new one to fix,so i suspect it is that prism thing.
does anyone know of a cheaper repair,or a suitable replacement for this [email protected]
I am on my second bulb, ~ 3500 hours, and it's really messed up. My whole screen has now turned blue, and It now looks completely yellow as well as some weird dark yellow patches in the middle. I thought my only expense would be a bulb ever year or so, whoever this will probably be very expensive to repair. Not a happy customer, I don't I will ever buy hitachi again.
Ours is doing this too!!!!! We have had it for 2 1/2 years and we thought it was the bulb going bad. We just replaced the bulb and the blue is still there so I started checking on the internet for what it could be and found this site. I am bummed that it just wasn't an easy bulb fix.
Same problem with my PJTX100. My screen is blue on the edges and a large brown / yellow patch in the middle. I thought my only expense would be $300.00 bulbs. (which is bad enough). I will NEVER buy Hitachi again and go out of my way to make sure others don't buy Hitachi as well. They say that the projector is susceptible to overheating when used for many hours in a stretch, which is what causes the LCD panels / prisms to burn out. Don't really see the point of Hitachi loosing money on people not buying more bulbs by selling a projector that only last 1-2 bulbs.
I have an increasing blue patch on the side of the projector image after 4 years use of the projector. The local repair agent in Auckland NZ has been unable to fix the problem. I think this is a very serious failing in an expensive consumer item and I will certainly never purchase a Hitachi projector again.
A blue patch crawls up the screen and then starts at the bottom again. It is very distracting while watching a movie or tv. Any solutions?
