I have a fairly new Hp laptop which usually works great...sometimes when i shut it down it wont start back up....the power light will come on and the battery charge indicator light will begine flashing...in a few seconds it just shuts back down....i tried to start from battery power and from AC power with battery installed and removed..same results...i checked the AC adaptor with a meter and it reads fine.........then out of the blue it will power up and boot fine...when it does the battery power shows fine...i tried a new battery and still same thing...when it finally boots it works great with no problems or warnings...i have updated virus scan and spyware and both show no problems...i even tried back-up to an earlier date..when i tried to start it on AC power with battery removed i pushed power button for 30sec to dispell any risidaul power...i am lost as to what could be the problem..i know computers fairly well and like i said when it does boot up it works perfect and there is no indication as to what the problem could be.
Hello
the first thing to make sure of is that the ac adaptor cable is not having any partial contacts ofany kind whereby power gets into the laptop irregularly.this could have adverse effect on the circuitry.
it is not enough just checking the output of the ac adapter by a meter.try straighten the cable from the adapter and check the meter for voltage fluctuations.
if the above is okay then the problem could be on board leve.

Hi, sound like its infected with a virus or a bug, Update your virus scanner and do a complete scan. Also try a great bit of free software, spybot search and destroy, to remove spy ware. Hope this helps?
Power drain would be a better solution in this case. 1.first shut down the comp 2.unplug the charger 3. remove the battery and after press and hold the power button for 60 seconds without any charger and the battery. After the 60 seconds replug the battery and the charger and turn the computer .
Are you running on battery or AC? Try using the power cord, remove the battery and see if it continues. I have seen a battery that is on its last legs do some weird things to a computer. Also, check your power management setting. Control panel, power, and set the computer to "always on" just to see if it could be a power management setting. If none of this works, i would back up all your files, and try to reload win xp from scratch.
Sounds like someone has spelt water or something on the laptop. Don't keep trying to start it and remove the Battary and take it to you computer service agent to have a look.
Other easy things to look at first would be to remove any USB items connected, test your power pack and make sure it working.
sound like you charger is broken, i think tose use the same charger as the compaq presarios, evo's if you can get a used 65 wat that problem would have been fixed, but those are still pretty new, i think you can get a new charger for free if it's still under warranty
I assume that when you dont use your computer you put it in a sleep mode by pressing sleep button ..so if this is the problem you are facing than there is nothing wrong with your video card and solution for this problem is that remove both the power cables and also remove the battery for time being, after some time put back your battery in the laptop and plug the power cable and restart your laptop it will work fine........... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Was this solution helpful.Show your appreciation by rating it.
