Is the remote the fault or the machine. I would try new batteries I know this is obvious but even new batteries can be faulty. One way to check if remote is sending out a signal is to use it near a radio on mw it will cause interference, check battery terminals are clean and not had caroded batteries inside. not much more you can do if none of the buttons work but change the remote, you can probably get one on the internet ,

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'nekkid'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as another possible root cause for intermittent shutdown.

Testimonial: "Thanks for your suggestion. Rommel. I've found that the crystal XL2 didn't oscillate on IC35, and i have replaced the crystal and the unit managed to power up, but after switching the first Relay, and then go back to sleep again. It looks like maybe the two Amplifier Relays faulty or the driver chips for the Relays faulty. I remembered before the unit gone dead, it has this same problems. When i till the unit on side way, sometimes the two Amplifier Relays will clicks, and the unit will work happily. If you have any input into this problems, i will be glad to hear from you. If not, i will try to get those 2 Relays replace, and see that will fix the power up problems. Thanks for your input. "

The display problem is because the solderings on the back of the display are broken. To fix it you have to open the amp and redo the solderings (there are about 50 or 60 of them). There is a Youtube video that shows how to do it. I have fixed this on my DSP-A1.
I also have the problem with the motorized volume control. I have tried cleaning it, and it works for a few days, then it's stuck again. I guess I will have to replace it to have it fixed permanently. The part number is VZ621400, a new one costs about 40$.
