It sounds like you have a loss of green.
This could be caused by the green gun in the picture tube opening up or the drive circuit for the green gun gone bad.

Hi, This kind of problem occurs if tv screen got hit by some thing that damage internally and its irreparable, second possible cause is magnetic field nearby screen, please check any speaker or some thing that has magnet inside around tv, remove it from tv to fix purple hue at top of screen. Unplug tv from AC wall socket for 20-25 minutes, replug back in and turn it On, this will demagnetize screen to cure the problem.
sounds like a vertical problem, usually you'll see one white line across the screen, but one I worked on would come on and the bottom half of the picture was gone and there were lines across the top of the screen.
If you know how to solder & can find the vertical output chip then you could try resoldering the pins. If this doesn't fix it then it needs new parts.
Hi, Question shows its Sony KDF-50WE655 dlp tv that has lamp inside and it seems its time to replace lamp. Did you replaced lamp in tv recently? If not, replace it. Lamp replacement procedure would be written in user manual and please buy Sony original lamp for better result. Thanks.
after changing the lamp, I still had the same problem as you. I contacted sony and they offered me a brand new 40 inch bravia flat screen tv replacement...at no cost! If I chose a 46" or 55" there would be a charge between $325
It means the optical block is going bad. Contact Sony support. They will sometimes warranty these even after the 1yr warrany has expired. Have your model and serial numbers handy.
Try changing the component cable to your Video 6 and see if you have
the same problem. I tried this and figured out that the set top box
from Verizon component connections may be bad. I also tried changing to
a different set of component cables to troubleshoot. I figure its the
box not my TV.
Go to SonyStyle.com/support. The purple streak sounds like a bad optic block. Sony has warrantied this problem on certain models and will either fix or offer you a deal on a new tv. Check out their site for the models warrantied through Dec 2008. Yours may be one.
This is a symptom of the circuit failing. it will soon be much worse. You need a tech. you can verify it is the tv circuit. remove cable or input another signal such as dvd bring up the TV' menu. does it have the lines.
This is due to humidity in your area. Due to moisture content screen control section getting corrosion. cleanit and adjust the screen control to get the normal picture.
