Kenmore Elite refrigator side by side Model # 10655602400
Purchase a Kenmore Elite refrigator side by side Model# 10655602400 7/01/2005. No problems until this year '07' The freezer is frosting up and we had to defost it a couple of times. Sears' repair guys come out and change the theromostates and also put some kind of stainless steal rod to hang down into the drain well at the bottom of the freezer. The guy said the drain freezes up and this prevents air circulation into the refrigator side of the unit. However, my vegetables are frozen, so air is circulating. The freezer reads below -30 degrees and I have frost on the other side (milk side) of the refrigator. Tomorrow the Sears'repair guy is coming out again! (4th time) I bought their extended service warranty for $219.95 for one year only! Can this problem be fixed?

Re:
Boomdog, the problem with your fridge is the temperature control board (where you adjust temps at in the fridge section). I serviced one of these just this week for the same problem! It's working fine now.
They'll need to bring a control board with them to finish this job. The part number for it is #8201659. Be glad you won't have to fork over the cash to buy it, the retail cost is ~$165.00. Unfortunately, all of my vendors tell me this board is a factory backorder item. Maybe Sears will have it, maybe not.
Also, after the repair is complete, please connect your computer controlled appliance up to a quality surge suppression/arrestor device. We highly recommend this one... http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=124911

check model number. if the first 3 numbers are 106. this is a whrilpool made refrig. they have a lot of start kits going bad, It consist of a relay, overload and a relay. you need to replace all three. you can purchase a 3 in1 start kit that will work on all the home refrigs. Check local refrig parts house. usally the small hp kit is fine.
This is an error code for the icemaker fan motor. If the control does not see a signal coming back from the fan motor you will get this error code. Please see the image below from the service manual that explains the ER IF error code.
I thinkl you can order the manuals from www.sears.com under the parts tab enter your model # also if it is an electric dry it is 220v with a neutral leg check with the local electrian to see if the power there is phased..Hope this helps
PS::The washer and the refrig will work on the tranformers
the relay on the compressor is most likely the culprit part# 8201786 you can buy it at the local sears parts and repair center it is very easy to replace it. your refrig compartment will start warming up soon. to prevent damage to your compressor probably a good idea to unplug the refrig until you get the part replaced..
freezer on bottom/ anything i can do to prolong the life of the refrig thank you
