Hi. I don't really know what happened. My keyboard on my Asus EEEPC was working fine this morning but I turned it on later and it seems like the Fn key is either locked or stuck. Any ideas anyone
Tap the fn key a few times while the computer is off also tap the shift keys while the computer is off turn it back on and try again.. sometimes the simplest solution is the best solution
Fn keys are associated with laptop model.
So, if it doesnt work and if its software problem, you have to update the driver made for that laptop model which you can get from their website.
If nothing works, you can use the warranty on it.
By the way,
You can login into safe mode by pressing F8 when it just starts to boot (after the bios screen).
Good Luck
Hi! In your case you should press the unlock button in your keyboard. And Try to push the BIOS on startup when you reboot
You should not be having problems with the machine after only a month. The machine should still be under warranty i would bring it back to where you bought it and show them the problem. It is best to get anything done by a technician while under warranty so that the warranty does not get voided.
Hi,
Launch the PC in Safe mode; see if it is still the same with the Fn key. It may be some application or OS default causing issues. Launching in Safe mode will start with basic setup at least,
I hope this helps,
Thanks.
Try This:
Hold the Ctrl and Fn key down together and press also the Ins(Num LK) key. This should revert the keys back as normal
Thanks.

Also:
[Num] [Fn] and [Ctrl] -> all held together

The only idea I can come up with is to check the BIOS for an option to always turn that key on/off.
Hi
Try to restart the Laptop. If its not working then you need to disassemble that as the pad might have been displaced from its location or might have become bad.
Try Holding down "FN" and tap "F11". It seems number lock is on by default in some situations. Or, hold down the FN key and hit the SCROLL key (F12 button). Also try pressing F12 & F11 together.
If that doesn't help then restart your asus, when you start your laptop press DELETE/DEL key for 4-5 times and then you will enter the BIOS settings, from there see the option of function key and other keyboard settings and enable the function key. Then save the settings and exit the wizard.
If that doesn't resolves your issue you can get it fixed for free from asus as it is under warranty.
Please ask for any clarifications and do accept this solution.
Thanks
Rylee

I should have been more specific. The pc is only a month old and hasn't suffererd any ill treatment so there shouldn't be any physical problem with the keyboard. The Fn key is moving freely as well. It is like it is locked some how. I've tried pushing the Scr Lk and Num Lk buttons while holding shift and Fn and a few other combos, still nothing. I've even resorted to resetting the system back to the factory settings. Any other ideas before I take it in to get fixed? Thanks in advance..
I tried updating the bios before I reset back to factory settings, and nothing
Now for some reason it won't give me the option to boot up in safe mode. It just goes straight to the Windows XP black loading screen
That's what I thought. I was just hoping that I had somehow pushed a sequence of keys to lock the Fn key. Thanks all
