The red light on the scanner seems to be on most of the time
Whether we are scanning or not the red lights stay on. If we position the scanner just right it will go off for awhile. If we place a paper sack about 8 inches in front of scanner the light goes out. It doesn't matter where we have the scanner.
We have 2 registers and the other scanner doesn't do this.

If you are using magellan 1000i with no button, then it must be your scanner broken. But If you use a button trigger try to push it a while. The Button is on top of the scanner, with a white / light green color.

There is an option in the dialog box where you select the paper source either ADF (chute) or flatbed. The options differs depending whether you are using twain interface for scanning or isis.
You need to select the proper source. If the paper source is correct then, probably, the paper sensor in the chute unit is not operating properly.
If you are seeing vertical streaks/black lines your primary corona wire is dirty and or the fax scanner may be dirty. 1)To clean the corona wire you take the drum unit and toner cartridge and place it on disposable paper to avoid spilling. 2) Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by sliding the blue tab from right to left several times. 3) Return the blue tab and snap it into the home position. 4) Reinstall the drum unit and toner cartridge. 5) Close the front cover. Caution: if you do not return the blue tab to the home position it may repeat the black lines.
Check corner marking for placing the document, place the document & scan through system, verify whether you got full scanned image? if not adjust the placement in correct position, once its OK, go for print there select correct image size(could be 100%) & paper size..I hope it will solve the issue..Best of luck
Determine if the scanner has
flatbed only or ADF (automatic document feeder). Scanners with have a
flat glass section for scanning, but they may or may not have an ADF.
Determine if your scanner has one of those so you can scan one sheet or
multiple sheets at a time.
Place paper in respective slot.
Insert the paper into either the ADF, or place on the flatbed for
scanning use. Make sure the glass is relatively clean. If you're using
the paper feeder, make sure the pages do not have staples or paper
clips still attached.
Press the "Scan" button or use an application on the computer that can interface with your scanner. Use this to grab the image of the documents or pictures you desire to be digitized.
Save scanned item as you want
it. Store the now digitized image to whatever format you desire
(whether it is PDF, JPG or other). Keep track of where your storage
location is so you may retrieve the data soon.
Retrieve it. Remove your papers, and browse to your digitized documents.
The feeder sends the original across a small piece of glass. The scanner stays in one position as the paper runs across it rather than the scanner moving and paper staying still. The little piece of glass is probably a 1/2 inch by 12 inch glass. just clean that strip of glass. use alcohol. there is probably some whiteout on the glass. It will appear as a dot. When the paper runs across it, the dot is run across the whole page causing the line. if you cant find the strip of glass, run a scan and try to see where the scan light sits while it's running. Clean everywhere where the light sits.
Try this, unplug it from wall. Wait 5 minutes, plug it in & try again. You may have to reinstall the software since it's been awhile. Sometimes the updates that "good old gates" sends us messes with our hardware drivers ect.
1,Unplug the USB cable
2,Place the allignment paper in the right bottom corner of the scanner glass
3,close the lid
4,Press the Start scan button
You will find the light blinking wait until it completes.
Then connect the cable and the issue will be resolved.
Hope works well for you
Try running a calibration. This is done thorugh ScanGear in Advanced mode. Once in Advanced Mode, in the Image Settings section there should be an option for Calibration (you may have to scroll down in this section to see it). After running the calibration, try performing a preview scan with nothing on the scanner glass. If the red line shows up on the preview now, then most likely the scanner needs to be serviced.
Try this as a last ditch effort.
Remove the software.
Reboot the computer and come off line.
Disable the Anti Virus program.
Now install the soft ware.
If the red light still flashes then assume it is new scanner time.
