Bottom freezer on Amana refrigerator is too warm. Top refrigerator is ok. Frig. is about 6 yr. old....thanks

    Been temping at around 36 degrees for the past 3 hours that I've checked. Frost building up on items.

    It's strange that the bottom freezer is too warm, but the refrigerator on top is okay. Both of mine are several degrees too warm, and I need to be able to keep some desserts for the holidays cool. I think an appliance repair company could fix my problem, and maybe they fix yours too. http://abcapplianceinc.com/services

There is a vent that is connected from the freezer down to the fridge right where the fan is,make sure nothing is blocking it.

Amana refrigerator warm
Chances are if they are getting cool but not cold-

1) the evaporator fan in the freezer is not running
2) Defrost heater has failed
3) Defrost sensor has failed
4) Defrost timer/refrigerator control has failed.

Check for ice build-up on the back wall of the freezer. If there is ice, unplug or turn the unit off for 6-8 hours with the doors open (put any food in a cooler with ice to maintain). Note water may come out of the refrigerator.
Plug the unit back in or turn it back on, close the doors, and check temperature after a couple of hours of operation. If all OK, you will need to have the above tested, or, if you know how to use a multimeter and can read a schematic/wiring diagram, I can instruct you on how to check the above.

I have an Amana refirgerator with a top freezer and had the same problem. I turned off BOTH the frig and the freezer for 24 hours. That allowed every thing to dry out. It has been running now for a week with no problem.

Is your fan blowing in the freezer? Frost on the back wall of the freezer usually indicates a defrost problem... defrost themostate, heaters, take back panel off and check evap for frost build up and if your fan in working.

defrost drain channel is almost certainly blocked in freezer, to rectify turn of overnight leaving doors open, turn on the next day 12 hours later and it should then work ok.
