My ribbon broke while printing, i replaced the ribbon catridge and now the printer will only go through one "pass" before ejecting the print. It was only printing yellow, then it would say printer error and push out the paper. It now does yellow, then red, then ejects the paper. Any ideas?
Sometimes my printer will only make 1 or 2 passes and then stalls in that position with paper extended at bottom and will not send print back for the final color pass. It will do this at any time... sometimes when sending one copy or in the middle of a multiple copy job. Print dialog box says processing job and scroll bar is spinning but not advancing.
I have turned it off and on... unplugged and re-plugged usb. Usually have to turn off printer... remove the paper that was being processed... throw it away and start over... wasting unused section of ribbon until it happens again.Sometimes my printer will only make 1 or 2 passes and then stalls in that position with paper extended at bottom and will not send print back for the final color pass. Re:
Did any of the ribbon come away, or tear when it broke, i have heard of small pieces lodging in the carriage or feeder. Check this very thoroughly as blockages can be very tiny. Check you correctly inserted the ribbon too, and it is the correct type of ribbon for your unit. (sounds silly but sometimes it ccan be that simple) try reinstalling printer, is the ribbon cartridge faulty? check it.

You need to open the top cover, access the ink catridge case(Where catridges hung), then look for other objects that look like ink catridges but smaller, that's where the catridges feed ink (into the print heads) usually separate by colors cyan, magenta and yellow Usually Black is a lone. Replace the print Heads and clean where the dirty ink drops.
1.Remove the ink catridge
2.Replace properly
3.try to print
4.if even same problem will be occured then replace with new catridge.
Note: Hp printer come along with a software cd.it has the driver for printer, troubleshooting and maintenence software.in the trouble shooting guide will help to removes and replaces the catridge properly. Also a Quick start guide(A printed sheet) also can help.
5. if Even the problem not solved then unsqurew the printer squrews carefully ,
6.look at the mechanisim if any damaged
7.look any Data cable or Power cable may be damaged (Cables are looking like a white color mica ribbon)
as long as the color print cartridges remain in the printer you should be able to print in only black and white.
If the error message does not come up you should be able to tell the
printer to print in black and white in your page setup or print properties portion when you go to print your page.
(1) go file print or print (2) a gray box will pop up click on properties
(3) Click color (4)click gray scale
This should do it for you! (5) select black print cartridge only
it can be due to ,, color catridge contains only green,, since the other colors,, are been used for prior printings,, and the green ink is left in the catridge,, you can check.. make use settings to print in gray scale,, dont use color.. then it should be fine.. but the color cartridge to be replaced
Take out the power cable from the back of the printer keep on tapping the power button for 30 secs ; then plug it back. Take out the catridges clean them with a Lint free cloth (copper contacts); also clean the catridge slot of the printer; put in back the catridges ; Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer; press and hol down the (#) and the (6) button simultaneously with one hand and with the other hand put in back the power cable; and then release the (#) and (6) button; It will perform a reset on the printer IF still then it doesn't work then the catridge slot's copper contacts has gone bad and need to replace
