When I purchased this camera it worked fine. I turned it on the other day and lines showed up on the viewfinder and printed pictures. As far as I know the camera was never dropped, banged or bumpped. could this be a warrenty issue?

Since your camers is still under warranty, best thing to do will be to send it to the appropriate factory service center for correction of the problem.

CCD Imager in your camera is probably defective and needs to be replaced. If the unit is still under warranty, i advised to have sony fixed the issue for you.

Pictures are pink with lines

The camera is a wonderful Kodak product and takes beautiful 8.5 Megapixel photographs. When you save the pictures to an SD card, you must at some point remove them digitally from the card.
Either by linking it to the USB cable and going from there to your PC, OR by removing the SD card from the camera and inserting it into an SD card slot in your computer, printer, or card reader. Occasionally the card readers such as the ones in your PC, printer, or card reader devices do not connect properly and will only transfer part of the data, resulting in pink ugly lined photographs. This problem can be fixed by using the USB cable instead of the built in card readers in your other devices.

Vertical lines obscuring image

The matrix is dead. Probably because of an intensive light got into the lense while the camera was in night mode. It's dead. Nothing can be done.

PURPLE LINES SHOWING ON SCREEN WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TAKE PHOTOS

Your camera likely needs a new CCD imaging sensor. It is a cute little thing and is very expensive to replace. I've seen deals to repair any digital camera on eBay and I would check for a local repair person in your area. You can use the search on this site to see who might be close by. I have an A310 doing the same thing.
