FXR suzuki 150 will idle but wont rev

Bike was going fine sat in garage for 4-5 weeks started fine got 2 ks down the road and died. Cleaned out carb put new plug in it now starts instant idles great but as soon as you try to open the throtal it coughs and dies. On full choke it will rev but as at idle will die when trying to open throtal

I had a similar problem, starting and idling was fine, and upto about half throttle the engine was consistent. Full throttle and everything died (engine flooding). In the end, it was the needle and seat within the carburettor - specifically, the needle cone was made of rubber and had reached its lifetime. Try a new needle and seat replacement, or just buy a new carburettor (replacement carb will cost about the same as needle and seat replacement anyway).

Check your exhaust when starting - if it it sooty black, chances are you are looking at engine flooding and need a new needle. Engine flooding is a very common problem with carburettors on engines left unused for long periods of time.

2000 gsxr600y Flat spots and rough running at 8 and 11 thousand rpm, won't pull passed 11000 from 4th gear up as running so rough

Full disassemble of carbs is needed. Thorough cleaning on jets and airways, vacuum and pilot screw adjustment must be done too.
Check the spark plugs for lean mixture indication and replace them if necessary.

I had this problem today with my bike and after much ado I discovered there was oil in the air filter box... check your oil level it could be too full. Mines was and the excess oil was blown into the air filter box and as a result contaminated the air filter. Spent today cleaning the filter box, carb and draining and changing oil, could not get a new air filter today so ran it without onebike runs like new!! New air filter will be here Monday!

Just bought a 1993 suzuki gsxr 750. has been sitting in a garage for 2 years. we took the carbs off and cleaned them really well, changed the oil, and air filter and we added new gas. bike starts up and...

If is runs better with full choke, then the bike is lean, check for air leaks at the carb manifold, vacumn cracked hoses, non standard exhausts, perhaps the mufflers have rusted out while sitting

My suzuki 125 wont start I recharge the batterry and replaced the sparkplug and start during it's on choke but if I return to normal it dies. pls help me

It's a carburated bike. You need to have your carburator cleaned. It's not a difficult job, howver if you are not comfortable with what your doing a shop will charge a half hour or 1 hour o clean it for you on average.

Your carborator mixes your fuel and air. when the bike is at idle it is only getting fuel from the "idle" needle. The smallest needle in the carb. These needles are hollow. As fuel sits in the carburator for a long period of time (over 2 weeks) then the fuel can gum up and clog the neeedle. If it runs when the choke is on but dies when you take it off the choke this is what is happening:

On some bikes a "choke" doesn't actually choke it of fuel, sometimes it actually enrichens it. Your bike is probably set up to open another passage way besides the "idle" needle allowing fuel to go into the engine from another passage. you shut the "choke" off and now it only has the idle needle to get fuel from. If that's clogged the bike dies.

A can of carb clean and a screw driver is usually all you need to clean a carb. But if done wrong you will pay more to have a pro fix it.

I have a 1986 yamaha virago 700 that wont run properly

2 things need to be done first start your bike get a can of wd40 after your bike is warm and running spray around the carb jointsall 4 of them if your engine changes rpms up or down you have a intake leak ether your carb joint gaskets or o-rings need replacing or your carb joints are old and need replacing. at this point wont hurt to have you carbs cleaned also

When start go to rev it just dies

Remove the throttle stop adjuster and the air screw adjuster and spray carb cleaner in the holes.
Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two adjusters down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each adjuster one and one half turns outward. Turn the pilot screw 1/4 turn counter clockwise. Check the float level. Before putting the slide back in the throat of the carb, move the clip on the jet needle one notch lower.Put the rest of the carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. Adjust the idle speed with the Throttle stop screw. This process should get you back on the road. A “very helpful” rating for this answer? Thanks!
