While programming the handheld scanners, the scanners accept every barcode except for the scandata transmission format, which the scanner receives the lo\hi tone which means input error.
I have repeatedly reprogrammed the scanners, directly from the manual even, but still not accepting the scandata transmission format.
This is important as it allows hands free computing as the user does not have to press the enter key each time he/she scans in information.

Hello Jane Diaz,
the scanner has several barcode types enabled by default. Other type or lengths must be activated with an programming barcode from the Programm Reference Guide for LS4000.
Please check which kind of barcode are you using.
Download the Program Reference Guide from support.symbol.com
Scan the barcodes from the chapter Symbologies
it looks like the scanner lost the settings. As power is there, so connection is ok. The several (four) beeps after reading the barcode means communication error.
Please try to find the original sheet with configuration barcodes or download it from support.symbol.com website, you would need to scan the barcode for IBM PC/AT & IBM Compatibles from Keyboard Wedge Chapter.
There is more than one way for that imager to send data to the computer. Are you using USB, serial, or is there a little box that goes between your existing keyboard and the PC that accepts the scanner connector?
you should have a code book that came with the scanner, the code book allows you to program the scanner's options, the code book takes you step by step through the programming proccess. each option requires you to scan varios barcodes to "set" the various options
one of the options will be to set the barcodes you wish to use, this is set to avoid a misread (confusion between barcode standards)
