Question about LG Flatron MW-30LZ10 30" LCD Monitor

Installed new monitor, lost my sound

I got a gift from my son which is an LG 22" Flatron Wide monitor but after i installed it the image is great but i have no sound. I did notice there was an input on the back panal for audio, but i do not see any speakers built-in...nontheless...do you have any clues for me?

    I already have speakers connected to the computer, not to the moniter. I get sound in some applications and no sound in others?????

If your previous monitor had built in speakers and your new monitor does not you are going to have to purchase new speakers. If your new lcd monitor has an audio input you can purcahse a sterio mini jack cable for under $10 at any store that sells computer stuff (circuit city, best buy, walmart, target, etc). Simply plug one end into your monitor and the other end into your computers audio output jack (usually color coded green). Now of course if that monitor does not have built in speakers your only option is to purcahse a set of speakers for the computer. These usually start at around $15.

sounds like a capacitor in the power supply is going. Check caps and look for bulged or leaking component. Most new devices have non filled caps so you may not be able to judge these by a visual check.

I have a LG FLatron Wide monitor worked for 3 years but now is got this pink tint that I can not remove???
A pink tint is an indication that the CCFL lamp/s is about to fail. The CCFL lamp/s provide the back light.

I have a LG Flatron W2242p monitor. What should I set the screen resolution setting to?
1680 x 1050 is the highest resolution that this monitor can support.

Go through my published guide entitled How to set your Desktop Screen Resolution?

Set your Resolution to 1680 x 1050 as this will give you the sharpest image.

How do I adjust the image width on this wide screen? Everything appears distorted and wider than it is. I would like a narrower image.
This is one of the problems with the wide aspect screen. Most images seem to fit best on the older monitors.
You can go into the video properties and choose one the the display types that best display your image. Unfortunately, by taking a normal (to us) image that looked just fine on an older monitor and displaying it on a newer, wide-aspect monitor, you're gonna distort the image or crop it in a way you didn't expect.
My advice is to experiment with the display until you find something you can live with.

Open lg 22' wide screen
disconnect all the cables except the power cable and then turn the monitor on you would see a test screen if it still happens your monitor is faulty and better buy a new one as repairing is usually expensive .
