Have you checked the fuses in the power cable? There is a reset button under the front bezel. Try pressing that to see if your unit comes back to life too.
It sounds like this might be a battery problem. Have you tried resetting the unit? Turning the vehicle off should NOT shut the GPS off instantly. It should indicate that the external power was lost and ask if you want to continue on battery power (shutting off in 30 seconds if you do not reply). Is this what it did?
try pluging in the cables it came with first while on stand by hold down power on system for 10sec hope this works iif it does then try to switch to hdmi cord and reset system
