Try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilities from the SanDisk website. Make sure that you back your music up first because when you do this you are setting it back to factory settings.
I;ve notice if your computer is not configure properly, windows media player gives you very hard time syncing devices. You also, should check and see what version of windows media player you are using. 11 will sync properly with most devices.
the only thing that you have to do is that when they send you that message don't click yes.
But you also have to go to www.sandisk.com so you can download the software for your sansa.
Hope this helped find the solution for your issue!!

We had the same problem with Windows XP. We found some help on the Sandisk web site. On the device go to the Settings menu, then USB. We changed from AutoDetect to MSC mode and everything is working again. Our computer saw all of the songs on our computer fine. Some of the old songs on the Sansa didn't show up on the detect list in Windows Media Player, but they were still on the device.
If your using XP, go to the Windows Media Player and load the CD. You will see a Sync Icon. When you click on it will run and then give you a sync
complete.
Plug in your Sansa to the usb port and load from the Windows Media Player.
