My camera is doing the same thing. When i turn it on it will review photos i have previously taken and also take video but when i put it into the still camera it won't take photos and just turns itself off. Seems like it should be easy to fix but have no idea how to!

Unable to use card

What size card is it? You should go to Konica Minolta USA Web-Site and look up your camera under discontinued products to see what the largest card your camera can handle as you may have a card that is to large for your camera format ....

Convert a video to still life photos

Yes, you would need to use video editing software, IE windows movie maker, nero etc. and capture the frame you want as a still photo, then save it.

My Dimage X1 is stuck open

Hi, you may have tried this already, but if you haven't, it worked for me. I was just checking out your posting as I have been having what sounds like the exact same problem as you: shutter remains open, can't do anything with the camera when it is not on the craddle and when it is on the craddle, the only thing I can do is flip through pictures I have taken previously. I was about to report the same problem as you, then decided to take out the battery, clean it a bit, put it back and now it is working again! For me it stopped working after having used it in humid conditions, so maybe it was a condensation problem... give it try if you haven't.
