Nice to know I'm not the only one.

    What is the fix????

  • Puzzzled Dec 05, 2007

Same problem but so far it only turns on and off about 3-5 times before turning on for the duration. I called a local reputable shop but they said they would have to bring it in. They also suggested the lamp was perhaps getting old and not firing. This model is supposed to not have that lamp or should have a much improved one with longer life.

    Puzzled.

I called Samsung and got the name and phone number of their local technician (TV repairman) and he figured it out. It was in one of the boards, however Samsung did not have that board in stock. He discovered that the voltage of 4 or 5 campacitors on that board was not rated high enough. He went to radio shack bought the higher rated voltage campacitors and unsodered the old ones from the board and sodered the new ones own. It fixed the problem. That was 4 months ago.Cheap fix. Basically the price of a service call. It was still under waranty and Samsung paid.

I don't think it would be your light as it is a LED and not a color wheel bulb. Be sure you use and honest Samsung repairmen. I had the same problem called Samsung they had their local repair man call and make an appointment to come to the house to check it out. Long story short the failed circuit board was not available from Samsung and Samsung replaced HDTV with a brand new 2008 model from the local store where I purchased it. This TV was still under warranty. Extremely well pleased.

I have similar problem and my TV shuts itself off. It is the 56'DLP model. I have changed the bulb once, and I know it is not from the bulb.

I GOT TIRED OF FIGHTING IT, AND JUST LEAVE IT ON ALL THE TIME, SINCE MINE WILL TURN OFF CONTINUOUSLY FOR THE FIRST 3 HOURS OF TRYING TO TURN IT ON, SO BY THE TIME IT IS ABLE TO STAY ON FOR THE DURATION, YOU DON'T NEED IT ANYMORE, SO JUST LEAVING IT ALWAYS ON, IT IS READY WHEN I WANT IT. WHAT A PAIN.

When we turn the TV on, a red light starts to blink but no image or sound is displayed. How can this be fixed?? And What is causing this? my TV model is HL-s5679w

The Blinking light is an error code, most likely you just need to replace the bulb which is fairly easy, there is an access panel on the back and you should be able to replace your self. A new bulb should include basic instructions here is a link price is $110

Where can i find a bulb for this model HL-S5679W

This is a LED TV it does not use a bulb. If you have problems you may have to change the light engine which cost around $800.

HL-S5679W won't start three light blinking

There is no lamp on this TV.. Your issues sound like a bad DMD board or bad capcitors on the power board. Remove the power board and inspect it.

TV Stopped turning on.

Apparently you can fix the issue by replacing a few faulty capacitors. I haven't done this yet, but plan to try it out next week.

Samsung HL-S5679W No video No sound

Check the capacitors on the power supply first. If any have domed tops or signs of leakage, replace them. I had two go bad on mine. Call electronics parts supply stores first as these are not your average capacitors.

Samsung TV will turn on and off several times, then stay on.

First, need to check the power bar(if you use).
then. if don't use power bar, need to check the power board.
