Samsung HL-S5679W When turning TV on it turns it self on and off 6-10 times before staying on. Whats up with this.

Same problem but so far it only turns on and off about 3-5 times before turning on for the duration. I called a local reputable shop but they said they would have to bring it in. They also suggested the lamp was perhaps getting old and not firing. This model is supposed to not have that lamp or should have a much improved one with longer life.

I called Samsung and got the name and phone number of their local technician (TV repairman) and he figured it out. It was in one of the boards,however Samsung did not have that board in stock. He discovered that the voltage of 4 or 5 campacitors on that board was not rated high enough. He went to radio shack bought the higher rated voltage campacitors and unsodered the old ones from the board and sodered the new ones own. It fixed the problem. That was 4 months ago.Cheap fix.
