Question about Hampton Bay 52 In. White Redington III¿ Ceiling Fan w/ Remote Control & Light Kit
Some one posted this problem a few months back with Hamilton Ceiling Fan. "My ceiling fan runs about 1/2 speed on high and medium and does not run at all on low. The remote LCD indicates the fan is operating in the opposite direction. The LCD indicates the fan is going forward and fan is going backward." I have the same exact problem with Hampton Bay White Redington Ceiling Fan. I tried to rewire but the fan speed stayed same while the fan ran it in differnt direction. p.s. There was an extra hot wire coming out of the celing. I also tried with that wire but same problem this time I just have to use different on/off switch on the wall. Thank you and any suggestions will be greately appreciated.
I recently replaced my hampton bay fan for the same reason (slow at all speeds) and discovered scorched and melted capacitors and wiring inside the fan. My suggestion is to stop using fan and replace immediately.

Be sure that the switch located on the fan is set to high when you are also using a wall-switch to control the speed of the fan. Avoid the mistake of having the fan-switch set to medium or low while also setting the wall-switch to medium or low. Set the fan-switch to high, then control the fan speed using only the wall control.

Is the fan single phase or three phase?in other words does the fan connect to 2 or 3 wires?if it connects to 3 wires just change 1 wire to another.
