Magic Chef won't work - clock works

I have a 1.8 cu. ft. Magic Chef microwave oven. Friday night I wasreheating some frozen chili - about 20 minutes. The microwave juststopped when I tried to resent it for 10 more minutes. The clock worksand it counts down. It just won't come on. There is a little clickwhen you press the start/stop. Does anyone know what's wrong?

The fan is not working. Do you know what I need to do to have it fixed or would it be worth fixing? The microwave is not a cheap microwave.

Does the fan run?
If not, it's a control board fault.
If it does run, it's probably a high voltage problem.

If the clock counts down but no fan etc, sounds like a serious fault on the main control board; they are usually not worth repairing.

Usually the whole machine has a fuse internally and then just the 'high voltage', there isn't one for a fan.

A fan not running could be difficult to fix unless you know someone into electronics.

The fan is switched by the same control that switches on the component that heats the food (The Magnetron)

You're unlikely to get it fixed unless you find another machine on eBay with a different fault.

    (rob the good bits)

    Sorry.

    Thanks

Hi,

Is the unit plugged in and is the light on inside when you open the door? If so you could have a blown fuse. The cabinet must be removed before you can replace the 20 amp fuse. Good Luck

There are several things that could cause a microwave not to heat. Most common is the magnatron and some models have up to a 5 yr warranty on that part. Check the owners manual for that info.
