My DVD-RW has stopped burning.

My burner worked yesterday, now sad. Have tried several times, and have gotten the same result below.

Try uninstalling the burner using the Device manager and letting Windows reinstall the drivers on reboot.

Right click on My Computer then Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > click on the '+' next to DVD/CD ROM drives, right click on the drive and 'uninstall'. Reboot and Windows will re-install the drive.

I have a Compaq Presario c700...the DVD RW drive does has stopped reading DVDS. i have done several diagnostics but everytime the result is that the drive is working fine.
Try different DVD's and if you own any, try some DVD Games

if you can buy a CD cleaner as any dust or grime on the lens could stop the DVD drive from reading certain data

the other thing could be that it's reached it's lifespan and it's time to buy a new DVD RW drive, DVD/DVDRW drives are cheap to buy now, so you could probably pick one up for $10 - $20

I have always been using Nero burn software with my LG GSA-2166D DVD RW. Now I bought Nero Multimedia Suite 10. No any writing process has been successful. I have since yesterday spoiled 10 DVD's....
speed of source data is too slow = the hard disk cannot deliver the data fast enough and the burning process stops; this is a sign of a severely fragmented file system and very charged background processes: defragment your hard disk, stop using other programs when burning a disk and use 8X as a recording speed.
 Track Following Error = the laser head in the burner is no longer capable of following the track it has itself burned - the lens is dirty, clean it.

Burns dvds fine wont burn dual layer dvds
This is in no way a proper technical answer, but certain DVD burners like specific brands of media, I have heard this for years and it's true, but you seem to have tried several types of media brands. I would try a -R, from Verbatum, if that doesn't work take it back and try a different model, you have done everything that you are supposed to.I found that the -R works best for me in my desktop and laptop, one is Lightscribe other is not, the -R works best for me.

Couldn't format and burn the DVD+RW
Hi,
It could be a problem of the version you are using with Nero 7, try upgrading. It also could be that you are try to burn the DVD RW at a speed it cannot be burned (say 4x), try burning it at 2x.
