Freezer is over-freezing

I've adjusted the freezer temperature all the way down to 1 and it still freezes everything rock solid. The fan stays on constantly, which I know shouldn't be the case. Is there another place to adjust the temperature. Is there something that could be blocked that is causing this? Any other possibilities?

Most have 2 controls in the refrigerator side. 1 is a thermostat or cold control the other is a air damper. the damper allows the flow of air from the freezer to the freshfod side. if it is closed all the way you are keeping all the cold air in the freezer and that will make it colder. most cold controls monitor the air in the fresh food section and regulate the temp. and some controls are confusing and the damper actually works in the reverse of what you think. but if the unit is always running you may have a bad cold control and it is sensing the temp in the refrigerator side is not col enough, so it will continue to run until is can be satisfyed. check the control to make sure it is shutting of if you turn it up. if not I would replace it. I dont know how old the unit is but you also may have some electronics that control the temp to.

I have a Sharp Fridge-Freezer, model SJ-F78SP-BK. The Fridge compartment freezes. If left on overnight, everything will freeze as if it had been left in the freezer. Freezer is working fine.

Hi,

please increase the temperature in the fridge portion of your fridge as it sounds like you've set that compartments temperature too low.

Thank you.

My freezer does not keep my ice cream hard, yet it freezes meats, etc. without a problem. What is wrong?

You don't note whether or not you've adjusted the thermostat. Ice cream (and juices) requires at least zero degrees, if not minus 5 degrees, for storage. Meats, fish, bread, etc. can become rock hard at much higher temperatures. Try setting the thermostat lower.

Freezer not freezing ice cream and milk

Icecream is a tough call. Some brands have to many artaficial ingredients and that doesnt get solid. What temps are you getting in the freezer? Is everything else frozen solid?

GE GSS25LGMF BB refrigerator freezing everything. Refrigerator is set on 1, still freezing.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..

Kenmore side by side - icemaker seems to run too fast because the ice cubes are often hollow and they stick together in large clumps. Everything else in the freezer is frozen solid, so I know the freezer...

IF FREEZER IS A THE CORRECT TEMP/ O-10 DEGREES, THE FREEZER IS NOT THE PROBLEM. THERE IS A THERMOSTAT IN YOUR ICE MAKER, IT IS NOT ADJUSTABLE. IT IS A SMALL BI METAL SWITCH THAT TRIGERS ICE MAKER WHEN IT REACHES ITS PROPER TEMP. THE PROBLEM IS, IT IS TRIGERING IT AT TO LOW OF A TEMP.NOT ALLOWING THE ICE TO FREEZE SOLID. IF YOU CAN HANDLE IT CHANGE BIMETAL SWITCH OR CHANGE ICE MAKER ITSELF.

Freezer is over-freezing

the possible cause is the temperature sensor or thermostat is not working, maybe its switch is stuck up on ON position, it looks like a wire attached to the area where ice is building up, it is connected to a switch to turn off the compressor thus controlling the operation of your freezer. replace with new thermostat will solve the prob.
