CHUCK 42409, the fans run thats good, listen for a buzzing sound, that's the inverter trying to start the lamp. This is when you first start her up. If you hear the buzz, unplug the set, then I would take the lamp out and look at it, in some cases they shatter in which is a dead give-away it's bad. The other is what I mentioned earlier. Check your color wheel. There is a DIY guide for replacing the color wheel. Mine did the same thing yours is and my color wheel was all busted up. Unfortunately after replacing the color wheel my set continues to do the same thing, but this could mean I need to replace the ballast as well.
The lamp can cause the picture to cycle without spitting out a lamp error. I'd replace the lamp and clean out the dust/dirt from fans, etc to hopefully resolve your issues.
The fan may have went bad. If it's out of warranty you may open it up and try and blow some dust out of the fan to see it that may do the trick if not it may need to be replaced. Westexaudioelectronics.com
