Re: A70 Flash does not work
You can buy a used A70 with everything working for about $50, and it'll almost definitely cost you more than that to fix the flash. If the reconditioned Canon they're offering you is around that price, and they'll give you a warranty, and you love the A70 too much to upgrade, I'd say take them up on it. I love my A70 too, but I recently got an A540 for my wife and now I usually use it also (when she lets me). The lighter weight (2 AA batts instead of 4) and the larger LCD monitor screen really make a difference.

Sorry, most Canon cameras do not have internal flash memory (maybe the newer models? But the A70 definitely does not). Those other model cameras that do have internal memory only have a few megabytes. And this memory is primarily intended only to take a couple pics to verify that the camera is working properly.
Canon will sometimes do a complimentary repair if you let them know you got it as a gift - when it's near the warranty. Give it a try: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SupportIndexAct&fcategoryid=203
Otherwise, the flash assembly is about $40 and labor would be around $85 for us to do the work. The flash assemblies are NOT interchangeable. The LCD on the A70 is $55 + $45 labor to replace. www.crystalcamera.com
