Question about Dell Inspiron 1525 Notebook

My dell inspiron 1525 microphone does not record.

It has Microphone Array,Sigma Tel High defInition Audio CODEC.When I want to contact my Skype contacts, they do not listen to me. I've tried everything like audio settings, settings sound on my laptop.It shows that Microphone Array works properly but steel one day it works , the other it does not.Can You Please help me to solve my problem, my laptop is nearly new. I bought it 6 monts ago. Thank You

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. I used Skype ages ago and returned to it a couple of days ago. No one could hear me. I researched for 20 hours, downloading drivers, checking EVERY setting possible and NOW have got the ANSWER. The wires in the Microphone Array are fatigued. My microphone works perfectly when I tilt my lcd screen half way down. Go to Webcam Manager, Tools, Audio controls, the microphone has 2 bars which go green when you talk into it. Tilt your screen and watch the bars go up and down. Not the answer you probably wanted but as long as you skype with your screen half tilted everything is good to go

    Well, I'll be darned. Yes, when I have the screen half-way closed, the integrated mic works. Thanks for confirming I'm not crazy.

I would try reinstalling the sound drivers, but remove the ones on the computer already. it should reset the drivers.

If you can hear windows booting up then the sound card is ok..you can double check it in Device Manager. To ensure the device drivers are up to date. Just find the sound card in the list of devices in Device manager and click on the "+" to expand it. Then right click on the sound device and click on update drivers. You can also uninstall the drivers and reboot. Plug and Play will pick up the correct drivers..double-check the cables also...good luck. Let me now if you have any questions

Yes this Dell laptop does have a built-in mic.
If the person cannot hear you then, either your microphonedriver not installed or not working OR the microphone is not configured inSkype.
To test your microphone then click on Start - All Programs - Accessories -Entertainment - Sound recorder. Then record your voice and then play it back.If this is OK then the microphone need to be configured in Skype.
To configure the microphone - Open Skype - Tools - Options -Audio Settings for the Microphone THEN click on Save.

When i record a video using my youcam, there is no audio recorded. therefore there is only a video without audio. how can i solve this problem?
try to go to settings on the left side.. check the audio device.. it should be Integrated Microphone Array (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC).. i tried this and it works..

Hi. We have a problem with microphone on Skype. Other side can't hear us althouh we have tried every solution recommended on Skype and microphone settings should be ok. Should we download some codec or...
It seems that microphone or volume issue on the other end. Can you try recording through mic and playing back? Hope it works, then there is no issue on your end.

Your sound settings have such sound recorder options....

If you go to Microsofts web site and choose updates, you may well find it isn't needed at all. Did your sound stop working? If it did got to Dell.com and update the drivers from there.

Anyone know how to enable a microphone on Dell
I would try going to Start, Accessories, Entertainment, and opening the Sound Recorder. Try doing a test record and see if it moves, or plays back what you record. If not, click on Edit at the top of the sound recorder, and go down to audio properties. You should see a sound recording section in the middle. Click volume, make sure microphone is selected, and the volume is up. If this doesn't fix it, try reloading your audio driver for your model of computer. You can download dell drivers from support.dell.com

Internal microphone not working
I have Dell Inspiron 1520 and I have issue to built in microphone is not working. I tried to execute the Sigma Tel driver from Dell Driver and Support website but prompted 'Exit Error; Error : Device Object not present, Restart system and run setup. Then, asked Dell support to help and they are not really helpful, after System Restore and drivers upload and finally asked to reformat the laptop........

Anyway, this is what works for me.

1) Download the Sigma Tel driver from Dell Support Drivers page and save it in Desktop
2) Shutdown your computer
3) Start your computer and press F8 at the Dell Logo page
4) Select Safe Mode (not others)
5) Proceed to work on Safe Mode
6) Right-click the Sound icon and activate the Sound icon
7) Select Recording device.
8) If still not working, then execute the Sigma Tel driver that saved in desktop

then, shutdown the computer and start as normal, you may see the system able to detect the built in Microphone then.

Hope it will work the same for you too..!!

I recently have had issues regarding my Dell Inspiron 1525 built in microphone. I run on Vista and have done some troubleshooting of my own. I have check all volumes and they are all up to 100%. The audio...
double clock at speaker at the left of toolbar then in options goto the properties go to recording option and confirm there that microphone is checked and then click ok
and then over there check the check box of microphone and increase the volume of microphone. hopefully it will work fine

The person I am calling /trying to talk to can not hear me
You need to configure your microphone settings.
When you open Skype click on Tools - Options - Audio Settings and click on Microphone and select the microphone you are using and save the setting.
I don't know the audio/microphone setting for Phone Serve.
