Supply expired After changing an empty black cartridge on officejet 7110, I get "supply expired replace black ink" . Even with a second new cartridge, it won't clear this message. Off & on doens't do it. Copies and printing from computer both get the message. ANy ideas? Thanks! Ginnical

OK, thanks. Just did that. Restart, same message.
It was pretty gunked up, but no more. Any more ideas?

So many models. Does this model have printheads under the ink carts? If so, remove the print head and clean the jets with a damp Bounty paper towel. Fold the towel up a few times and blot the head into it a few times to clean out the dries ink.

Is there printheads under the carts? Check the dates on the printheads. If less than a year old, Go to HP.com. Go to printer support and enter your model. It gives you the option to find your printer. Follow the steps and go for the warranty replacement. If more than 1 year old. Possibly will need new printheads. I have in the past, soaked them in water a few minutes and then dry them really good. Sometimes they work, but only as a last resort. I have bought printheads off EBAY,but be sure to check the date and make sure they are new sealed packaging.

Turn on the unit, and open the print-carriage access door by lifting the handle until the door locks into place. Figure 1: Opening the access door

Printing off computer

Most likely your new cartridge has a damaged head. The tiny bit of electronics could have a fault, and therefore not be read properly by the printer. Try taking the cartridge out and cleaning the head with rubbing alcohol - both on the cartridge and the printer - then put it back in. If that doesn't work, try a different cartridge.

Says Black ink supply expired. Installed new

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
If you are using factory new cartridges, then please call the manufacturers Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

Refilled ink cartridges

The reason why the printer says supply expired because the ink cartridge has its own warranty. When the warranty of the ink cartridge has expired then you will get that message. Eventhough you refill it. You need to replace the ink cartridge itself.

Try to remove the black ink cartridge. From there, you can check the expiry date of the Ink cartridge. If its already expired, then you need to use another black ink cartridge that is not yet expired.

7110 supply expired

According to posts on a another forum, you can fix this problem by unplugging the printer, removing the battery or sticking a business card between the battery and its contact point. It should work when you plug it back in.

The problem with the printer is it does not work, there are flashing lights and the message it gives you is to turn the power on and turn it back on. Needless to say when I reboot the system and unplug the printer and plug it back up, I get the same message, does anyone have any solutions to this problem????

The battery is located behind the left front cover. Open the printer, grasp the left front cover from inside the printer and pull to open. Look inside the printer to left and you will see it.
It is enough to remove for a minute to reset the expiration.
But I'm afraid after that the printer may not keep the date and time when turn off.
