Question about GE JVM3660 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

NIGHTLIGHT WON'T WORK BUT SURFACE LIGHT WILL

My surface light works fine but when in "nightlight" mode, nothing! I changed buls but discovered that they were single filament so obviously it's somewhere in the control panel. Any suggestions? I really use the night light feature as I am a disabled vet and am up and down all night long. Please help! Thank you

William and his company offer unbelievable great service and resonable pricing on their repairs.
I was ready (after speaking with GE) to throw out a $900 Microwave but thanks to William and Microwave Services, I have a "new unit" (repaired by them) for only $39.95
They are the BEST DEAL ON THE INTERNET and they truly do care about their customers.
Please support them! We all need them to be in business for a long time as they can save us all a lot of time and un-neccary expenses.
    Sincerely,

This is a problem with the control panel assembly, which we repair nationwide for $39.95. This is most often caused by the filaments shorting when the bulb blows, or by not disconnecting the microwave from the power line when removing or installing a bulb. How to change nightlight bulb on ge advantium 120 oven

Advantium - Interior Light Operation While Microwaving

The Advantium 240 oven interior (cavity) light will illuminate anytime the door is open. However, due to the dark tint on the oven door, there is not a light on while cooking since the food would not be visible using the interior lamp.
Food may be viewed during a microwave cycle by pressing the Microwave/Oven Light pad.

One of the Upper Level Speedcook lamps will come on for 5 seconds. The Microwave/Oven Light pad can be pressed up to 5 times during a microwave cooking cycle. The limit of 5 times is to prevent excessive heat on microwave cookware from the Speedcook lamp.

The Advantium 120 oven cavity is illuminated anytime the door is opened and while the unit is in the microwave only mode. As a result it will not have the Microwave/Oven Light pad.

Hi,
In all probability, the short took out the relay on the control board and the control board will need to be replaced.

I hope that helps.

Surface light "nightlight" will not work

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

Sometimes this will also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Tappan Microwave

This one has a fuse located behind the control panel, either on the floor of the oven or near the door switches it seems.

There is also a thermal fuse that looks like this, but it's not clear where it is. They are usually located on the magnetron.

You can find some info by searching for the model as 56-4884-10-04 here.

Night Light

Your Control Key Pad is a circuit with each function and button a switch. The pad on your TV Remote, and Telephone is no different. The Key Pad is failing, It will only get worse. Determine if you can replace the Touch (Key) Pad. Not the Control Circuit, just the Touch Pad. Sometimes you can get it seperate. It connects by a Flex Cable to the Control Circuit.
