you will need to provide the brand and model of the motherboard , it will not be e-machines. You can usually find this info printed in the motherbaord around the cpu or between the add-in card slots.

get this and ill get ya your plug-in locations..

    Regards..

Try this link to Emachines page. After you put in the make and model and stuff you should be able to view the user manual for your machine. If this isn't what you need you are able to contact support from this page and maybe they can direct you to a more detailed explanation that may help more.
eMachines use specially-made boards for them so there is no manual as such as the boards aren't made to be distributed. Basically they would all use the same sort of connectors and blocks (and cases) to an extent that anybody can plug a connector into the right place and it will work.

The easy way to get round this is to find the power button first - try each two pin connector first, press the button and see if it comes on. If not, move along on the block until you find the right one. Then it's just a case of trial-and-error on the other ones to find reset, power LED and HDD led.

just start over and buy a motherboard and processor and memory and plug your stuff into it. you will need an operating system because the emachines operating system only workes with an emachines motherboard. emachines is the cheap brand from gateway and i have had nothing but trouble with those machines. Hope this helps and good luck

I am trouble shooting an emachine T2898.

Well I can't exactly get you the layout of the motherboard because I don't know what motherboard you have. Find out what model the emachine is and Google it. You'll find everything you need out there. Or you can e-mail the model name to me and I'll help you out: [email protected]

Emachine motherboard no model number

Check out this site provided for a program called SIW. Download the free english version and install. It will tell you everything about your computer that you ever needed to know. Check the motherboard section for your specifics, and try the sound card section to see teh specifics on your card. This will help you in your search for the correct drivers.

Test your power supply for correct voltages. If they are all OK, then your motherboard is toast.

Power button wiring

A quick google determined your emachines model w2040 is equipped with FIC motherboard AM37. Download the manual from
http://www.fic.com.tw/support/motherboard/motherboard.aspx?model_id=107
You'll find the pinout info for your wiring on page 13.
Most motherboards also have the pinouts silkscreened onto the board itself.

HELP EMACHINE MOTHERBOARD

Are you sure you plugged the 12v plug back into the motherboard from the PSU? Unhook and replug it, making sure it is in snug and even. Its also possible that when the PSU was dying out the voltage levels changing might have fried a circuit. Hope not though.
