Hobart D300T mixer oil change.

I have a hobart D300T mixer and it seems to have gear box oil changed since the oil in there is greasy now.
Can anybody help on what kind of oil do I need to use and how much is needed to put in?

You can put in a all purpose grease. I use MOBIL 1 Synthetic Grease (RED IN COLOR) and it works fine -- you will need 3 tubs of 16oz's each tub. The cost is 30.00 or so. Make sure to get all of the old grease out and pack around each of the trans and worm shafts with the grease, then pack around the MOTOR GEAR and then put all back together. While running it make sure you can see the grease and hear the noise of the mixer through the 2 caps that are FILL caps on the head of the mixer. ALSO, you will find that you will lose 1st gear IF you have tigtened down too much on the LOCK nut, SOOOO loosen in small increments until all 3 gears are perfect and strong. ALSO, the key to noise adjustment is to Tighten (WHILE MIXER IS RUNNING) slowly the large nut that controls pressure on the worm transmission. The general rule with tigtening this nut is to tighten it till it will not tighten and then back off the nut -- IF the unit when starting does not run or it seems bound up when you first turn it back on, THEN you have tightened it TOO MUCH, SOOO back it off again (loosen it) until it starts smoothly and when you turn the mixer OFF it should come to a slow stop and not abruptly stop the mixer. Hope this helps some of you out there trying to do your own adjustments --

What kind of oil should I use in my Hobart 800 floor mixer? [email protected]

Hello Jdnwilk,

In a Hobart L800 you use 140 weight gear oil in the head and 90 weight gear oil in the planetary. You should start with about 160 ounces and check the sight glass and fill until in the middle of the site glass after oil settles.

Thank you for choosing

I suspect my D300T Hobart Mixer has a broken shaft I Need a parts/manual listing to help me take apart mixer, retreive broken parts and then order required parts

Hi. Go to, register for free. This will allow you access to the parts files for your D300T mixer. Download them. When you begin your disassembly, take a photo of every piece that you remove, lay these pieces on a piece of cardboard or something suitable in the order that they were removed. This will help you greatly with your project. Good luck! ricardok45

You may have a wire not fully seated in your plug, or the worm gear you've just replaced is bound by something ( a gear tooth?) or wrong worm gear. Check to see if all the gears are seated properly. You should be able to turn the agitator by hand. If not, something is jammed in the gears. The other possibility is the windings in the armature are bad.

Hobart 140 Qt Mixer 4 speed. needs the oil changed? what kind of oil to use?

You can use a heavy weight gear oil or call the local hobart branch for it.To remove oil----Look under the mixer where the beater shaft is in the back and you will see a three quarter inch nut, remove this nut and drain the oil then put nut back in.To fill the unit remove the top cover screws and remove the top,you will see a long hexagon nut in length, remove this and grab a funnel then add the oil---be patient it takes time to fill as the oil is heavy.

Old hobart s-30 mixer oil

man you got an oldie but goodie mixer!im a hobart service tech for 8 years and have only seen about two dozen, unfortuantly parts for these units are for the sight glass they do become cloudy over time and you cant determine the oil level.use a heavy gear case oil.the only way of telling is to drain the oil or if the unit is loud you should probably cange the oil.
