Hi there,
This could be a few possible issues. What you can try depending on your setup, is 1st to try and connect your ps3 to a different telly using the same cables if possible, like if you had it connected to hd telly with hdmi cable, use this setup on another telly to see if you have the same problem. If it's the same on the 2nd telly then it's the hdmi cable that's the problem, just replace and you should be good to go, but if it works on the 2nd telly then you will have to adjust some settings usually a resolution issue on the 1st telly. You can also try using an analogue cable that came with the ps3 to see if that works. If it was the analogue cable you were using anyway you may need to get a new one, but try on another telly 1st to be sure. It's most likely just a resolution issue but if you have the same problem on 2 tellys it's probably the cable then. Hope this helps
hi, if you have a device plugged into the telly that gives you the picture such as sky or cable then the best thing to do is disconnect this device from the back of your telly then switch the telly and this device off at the mains, then re-fit all the cables making sure they are connected properly then switch it all on.
now check if you have sound also make sure the tells is on the correct input for that decice and also make sure the mute button has not been pressed on the telly remote or on the remote of the device you use to watch telly, if after doing all that it still dont work then the chances are something has blown on the amp in the telly.
make sure you double check all the leads going into the telly to rule out a faulty lead causing you the problems
Hi the only slight chancer you have of doing this without the remote and this will only work with some tellys is to have the telly switched on then the device you have connected to the video input have this switched off at the wall then with the telly on switch the device on your trying to get the telly to pick up now some tellys will pick up the signal and go to that input channel, if how ever this dont work your going to need to go out and buy an all in 1 remote, these remotes cost next to nothing to buy you can get them off the well known auction site or from your nearest cheap shop such as discount stores that sell goods for next to nothing these remotes will work on all tellys and would solve your problem if the way i told you dont work.
Im sorry their is no easy way to get it to change but without the remote your pretty much stuck unless on the telly you have a button that looks like a square with an arrow running from left to right if you have this button then pressing this wil change the input source for you, if you dont have this then the only option would be an all 4 1 remote.
let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
We have the same problem - we have pulled out of storage an old g4 and are running tiger on it. It is connected to the network so we have to turn it on to print through it. it solves the problem but i am not happy with it.

I read in the manual for the Sony KDF 50E3000 that you should use warm soapy water on a clean cloth if you aren't able to remove it with a dry cloth. I find that the microfiber cloths work best.
hi the problem wouldnt be the screen instead your probably right with the video card if the screen was dead it would stay black but with it changing slightly you know the screen is gettin power. When you press the controll does an led flash on the telly to tell you the controll is working just incase the telly is stuck on an av channel. If you have got a dvd player hooked upto the telly switch this on with the telly on and see if the telly will work using the dvd player this would rule out the fault being with the ports on the telly not picking up the signal. If this still dont change anything then it could either be a resistor gone or a couple or it could be what you thought with the video card/controller but their is no way of knowing without testing the resistance at certain points on the board but it deffinately wouldnt be a problem with the screen so it shouldnt cost to much to repair. It mgith be a case that the telly has overheated and blown a resistor thse can be brought for pennys but locating will be the problem let me know what you want to do and wether you are considering doing the repair yourself if you are you will need schematics to follow off and also multimeter to test resistance at certain points on the board.
