Kenmore washer not draining/also getting stuck doing nothing

My washer will fill and agitate, but it doesn't drain and rinse. Then if you put it to spin cycle it will spin but not drain. The problem began by getting stuck and not doing anything prior to rinse except make a funny noise.

i have the same problem. as we speak my washer is sitting there full of dirty water and wet clothes. it will agitate but not drain or spin. :( What to do, what to do...

The plate for the switch is broken so when you close the lid, the plate that activates the switch is not there. I reached under neath and found what was left of the switch plate and was able to push it down with my finger; put it to spin and it started spinning. Now all I have to do is go to Reds TV and Appliance and get a new switch (and figure how to get the top off of the washing machine !!)

I had my kenmore washer doing the same, looked at water pump but nothing was stuck inside ,i tried the lid switch and stuck a screwdriver in it to see if this would do the trick,nothing..but when i took it out, i could see where it had come apart...took it out and decided to use gorilla glue and clamp it back till the glue dries, before the glueing process ,i test the draining outside with a buckett..and bingo,it started draining the water,i only had the switch crimped with my fingers and at the same time pushed the switch down ,it worked..draing started..hopes this helps

My hotpoint washer wont agitate spin or drain. it makes a clunking noise when you try to change the cycles manually

The draining problem could be something stuck in the pump. A easy fix just take it apart and get whatever is in it out of there. The agitator sits atop an agitator drive block. The spline on these tends to strip out. Yank off the agitator (it just snaps on) and replace the drive block.

Washing Machines will not rinse or spin

If the water won't drain out of your washing machine, either something is stuck in the drain hose or pump, or the pump is broken. Both fixes are simple if you're even just a little bit handy with tools. We're showing the repair on a Maytag washing machine.
What is wrong with a washer that does not spin?
If your washer fills with water but doesn't agitate, the problem is likely to be a faulty lid switch, a broken belt, or a problem with the motor. (Note: Direct-drivewashing machines do not have belts.) To diagnose the problem, do the following: 1Check the washing machine's spin cycle.

What causes a washing machine not to drain and spin?
If the washer won't drain there might be a clogged pump or hose. It's common for small socks or other small clothing items to get into the water drain system and clog the hose leading to the pump or the pump itself. Remove the hoses from the pump in order to remove the article of clothing.

Wife did a load of laundry. he washer filled and started to work but it would not drain spin or rinse. it will keep running the agitator if I turn the nob its self.

check for a bad door safety switch, you can locate the switch and the connection plug and unplug the switch, and add a jumper wire between the 2 connectors that lead away from the switch , spin, rinse, and drain, need this switch to work or the machine doesn't do those motions,

Kenmore Heavy Duty Series 70 washing machine gets stuck in cycle.

Either your timing motor has broken or the gears that it drives are stripped. The timing motor is easy to replace but if the gears are stripped you will need a whole new dial assembly.

I have a Kenmore top loading washer model #110 and won't agitate

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer.

Also see the Whirlpool (Kenmore) Service Manual for top load, direct drive washers.

The first thing I'd try is using a different cycle. If the washer works as it should, the problem points to the timer.

I'd also check to make sure that when replacing the switch, the connections to the timer haven't come loose.

Since you've replaced the Lid Switch, the motor has power for the drain and spin cycles.

These washers use a reversing motor. The motor turns one way for agitating and reverses for the drain and spin.

Since you cannot hear anything when it is supposed to be agitating, the problem does point to the timer or motor.

I just bought a used Kenmore 70 series washer, model #20712990. It will fill and agitate, but after that it seems to get stuck "soaking." I moved the timer forward to rinse, and it agitated again, but it...

all that is wrong is the lid switch is bad, remove the 2 head screws one on each side, flip the head up,you will see the lid switch jack on the washer top, unplug it clip the two outside wires and wire them together(unplug the washer first before you start this)now plug the jack back in,you have now by passed the lid switch and your good to go,let me know how you do-mike

Kenmore stack washer and dryer

gabehart....sounds like belt is slipping. Replace it. The water pump is on a separate smaller motor so is not affected by the agitator/spin motor.
